Well I have been wanting to try my hands at a custom for a while and finally got around to it after acquiring everything I was looking for. Never plan on moving it and it will stay in my PC. I know many people would say the 2nd patch is questionable, but I know the guy who pulled it personally and on the back it say it was received by The Upper Deck Company. I have seen UD produce other cards from the same patch (100 seasons) from early 2000's and I know this company does in fact deal with Upper Deck. Either way it is my own risk that I am aware of. I've owned the first patch (/50) for quite some time now but still had the Ebay pic, the autograph is a 1998 SP Chirography that I felt was the perfect auto for this custom due to the white background.

I took:

Thanks for looking.

The pic was taken with my phone but I have to find the scan somewhere of the front and back for clarity.

Angel Berroa only played for the Royals, Dodgers, Mets, and Yankees. None of those teams have similar uniforms to the Rangers (red accents). Pretty certain the bottom is a Royals patch and top a Rangers.

Nice custom. I personally would have used a pic of Arod in a Ranger's uniform since that is where the patch came from.

But when he took the pic of ARod, with his cell phone, ARod was wearing a Yankees uni.

At least, that's the way I read it. I thought "wow, that's really cool". But then I realized he meant he took a picture of the CARD with his cell phone, not the picture used on the card.

Its not questionable I directly spoke to the company 2 years ago when they first started appearing. And when pressed the company rep said they in fact where not game used they where from store bought patches and retail jerseys. All that upper deck mumbo jumbo was about the card that comes with it. I am sorry to be that guy, but you should at least know the truth. But dont feel bad the wording lead many to think they where game used.

For the record I like you custom. Keep up the good work, and who cares if its pc right?

The card included was a 2008 Topps base. When I go home I can get the exact wording but it was something along the lines of "this card contains and authentic jersey from the Upper Deck Company and was worn by the player on the front of the card". Either way as you said it is PC so doesn't matter, but it is wrong of a company to word it like so. I've seen the same type of cards (Vintage Card Company) with not so spectacular patches and/or plain swatches so odd that they would include those.

I plan to try my hand at other customs. I'm more worried making sure the autographs are certified above anything else.

I'm not a "new card" guy, and I've never done a patch or autograph custom, but your A-Rod creation is as nice as anything I've seen from Topps or Upper Deck. Show us the back!

This was your first?

Wow you are good...

Where did the Berroa patch make it's way too? If you still got it, I have an Idea...

Yea I still have it sitting in the card holder right now, not sure if a Berroa custom is even worth it...

I'll get a scan of the back when I get a chance!

the only thing I can say that looks off to me is having two different sized GU'ed windows.. I think it throws off the balance of the card but the idea of the card is good overall.

They are, one patch was considerably larger so I wanted to at least showcase the entire piece.

Thanks!

Again its my first card so I will definitely experiment with different ideas.

Oh no! Cutting up an on-card auto. :| I'm glad you like it, but it makes me tear up like that Engine on the recycling commercial.
