Sucks that this happened to you bud, but I gotta be honest.

I saw this a couple days ago, and thought to myself..."who bids on this crap?".

Not trying to be a dick, as you obviously were not the only one bidding. I just think
the fact that people don't look closely is a lot of what allows patch fakers to continue.

^^^^Yeh, I agree But don't feel bad though, I bought 3 fake patches when i first started my collection..and then just chalked the money loss up to just being a stupid tax

It does NOT specifically say serial numbered out of 391. It says "Ser #391."

I think you'd have a strong case to dispute it. I mean, the seller is ASSUMING you know what SER #391 means. Couldn't that easily be interpreted as the card number itself? And the people at eBay/Paypal have proven they don't know much if anything about baseball cards. The title is overwhelmingly misleading and they should be able to understand that much, at least!

How stupid am I? I just bought this card without reading the auction description carefully and without doing my homework. So much for impulse buying..I guess it is a lesson learned.

That doesn't even look like real jersey material behind the patch. What is that, a table cloth? ::facepalm::

This thread just got real interesting, as it was bought this time by someone over on Topps...

I called beckett to verify this. The response they gave me was that on jumbos there were a few cards that had prime patches that were thrown into the cards to fill the number quota. This means that even though it says "jersey" and is numbered out of 391....it seems to be real according to beckett.

If you can see in the scan (you can feel on the card) the outline of the card is thicker which means there is patch underneath it. I doubt that a fake could do that work without tearing the edges. I have 100% faith in the legitimacy of this card and am very proud of it....

I call absolute BS on "Beckett's" part. Beckett's saying that cause they're not willing to admit there are fakes out there (have they ever done an article on fake patches?? I don't think so).

There may be "jersey" cards with patches, but not with patches like that. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, didn't that set actually specifically state "Logo Patch" or "Number Patch" or something to that effect.

I really don't believe DLP would have let a patch like that slip through on a normal card.

Shame on Beckett.

I second that. How easy is it to actually call in to Beckett anyways?

His rationale that you can't get a piece of the patch under the edge of the card is wrong. You can, I've seen it. The iron-clad proof as to if it's from a jersey is pretty easy. MLB jerseys are embroidered to the jersey itself. if the pacth is just sitting on the jersey material and not connected at the edges, then it's fake.
