I've been meaning to knock one of these "sweet spot" style hockey puck cuts for a long time, so it's appropriate that I'm choosing the first to be Denis Savard from my beloved Blackhawks of the 80s.

The card features the top slice of an authentic Savard signed puck. How did I remove the top? A steady hand and a jeweler's saw. The card is about as thick as a standard baseball sweet spot style card.

Why the companies haven't started doing this is beyond me.

Dr. Price...paging Dr. Price.

That is really awesome!
You may have been asked this before, but have you ever wanted to work for a major company? The stuff you put out there as customs are a step up than what is out there.

That is truly a beautiful card. I don't collect much hockey, but if this was an insert set, I'd probably chase it. Very well done!!!

Now let me ask you guys something...If a company puts something like this out on the market, does it matter to you if they're licensed or not?

Well id say probably 20% of my Hockey collection is unlicensed (ITG) already, so no it wouldn't bother me at all. I buy whatever i like, licensed or not.

Good man! I'm the same. A license means nothing to me. I want good looking, authentic, quality cards from someone I can trust.

Thanks for the comments everybody...customs are really my main way to enjoy three hobbies - design, sports and autographs.

I've actually been meaning to pick up a Fuhr on an old Oilers puck...but this series will start off with Chicago Blackhawks' Hall of Famers.
