New site: http://oneill21.webs.com/

GooglePages was shutting down so I switched over to webs.com and redesigned my site. It is still a work in progress, but let me know what you think so far.

Only bad thing with webs.com is that they have ads. There is an ad on the top corner, does it show up? I am wondering because I don't get it in Firefox, but when I switch to IE I see the ad.

I saw one ad. That said, spend the extra money and get your own domain and web host. The hosting fees will be maybe $10 a month.

I see an ad above your 'Contact Me' section on the right. Changes whenever you Refresh the page. Nothing at the very top though.

I use Firefox.

+1. I pay $4/month for my hosting.

There is just one ad like all of you said. It really sucks that it is right there on top of the sidebar, I really wish it was less conspicuous. ::facepalm:: (great new icon BTW!) I had been using Google Pages for many years to avoid such ads and taglines which other free hosting sites require.

As of now I am going to stick with Freewebs. I feel that it is not worth paying to host a site and having just a want list on it (which is basically what my site is). Both of you guys (Bouwob/Mr. Fry) have very nice, and elaborate sites with scans of your entire collection. If I ever get around to creating something like that, I will definitely consider switching. $4/month is not a lot.

Thanks for the help guys.

I've got a suggestion for the site which I always find useful. For pages where there are multiple topics (multiple headings and you have to scroll down), put quick links at the top of the page. Some people make a table of contents, most make an inline list spaced by |. I prefer inline because it takes less room. Anyways, just a suggestion for easy navigation.

Good call! I have done that in the past (my very first webpage) but forgot about putting that here.

Thanks for the input.

So far the voting is split....those who don't must have an ad-blocker, firewall, or something.

It's been a few weeks since I've posted and I'm still tweaking the site. Added links uptop as Onionring suggested, as well as links to other player sites.

I am also planning to add a blog section featuring some of my favorite O'Neill cards, acquisitions, trades, and other hobby musings.

Other suggestions comments welcome.

Looks nice.

I like the design, and it's nice that you have links to some nice player collections.

The ad doesn't show up for me, but I have alot of ad sites blocked on the Ad Block Plus addon in FireFox.

Card Magnet - Thank you! I have been using Firefox for many years, but just installed that Ad Block Plus add-on after you mentioned it. I'm loving it so far! You can customize which things to edit out.

Great job with the mosaics in your sig. I'm sure you've come across this video already:

trademhigh - Thanks. I'm a fan of simple design. I found a template to go with the Yankees team colors and tweaked it to my liking.

Thanks. I've seen that video before, that is awesome. I can't take too much credit. Everything I did was with digital images and with the help of a program. I guess I cheated - but I love how they came out so I don't really care.
