I don't have a lot of room for my cards so they have been sitting in 5000 ct boxes scattered around the floor. I found someone to make me a custom card holder with 48 bays at 22 inches deep so I should be able to keep my collection organized. Just waiting for him to finish the drawers; I should be able to pick this up early next week. just feel like showing this off.

Very nice. I have wanted to make one for my graded sets since they are growing in huge numbers, but have not been able to find the time or help in doing that.

That is exactly something that I am looking to have made for my collection at some point. Though I think that I would like mine to have doors on it, maybe with glass panels, not sure on that part yet.

Very nice! Looks like a quality job too. Not being negative, but that thing looks heavy! I hope it's going to be on wheels?

Wow, that thing is awesome! I'm sure it will just stay put in one spot, so being heavy shouldn't be too much of a problem. Like moving a refrigerator in, it will be hard to get into position but once it's there...

I have kind of a similar thing going... I wanted to keep my player collections in order, and it's hard to find a good box that will fit graded cards. So my friend made me these...

There are 6 of them, I have 2 lids... so they can be two little stacks, or one giant stack. That's how I have them now, hiding in a closet. The problem is though, when they are loaded with cards they are REALLY heavy. So if I need something from the bottom box, I just decide I didn't really need it that bad. Not bad enough to move the 5 heavy boxes just to get to the 6th.

Thanks for all the reply's;

wideright - It's very heavy, Id guess around 100lB with no drawers, but I don't plan on putting it on wheels. I know where I want it so once it's there, hopefully I won't have to move it again.

RL24 - Those look awesome. I've been thinking about getting one done similiar for my graded stuff since there won't be any room in here. I know that feeling of having that card you want in the very bottom box all to well. That's actually what got me motivated to get this done.

Yep, they get heavy even with the drawers out. This is my biggest one and I can slide it when all the drawers are out, but being oak and 100+ years old, it is heavy, and I know it is repetitive for a lot of you:

This is what I use - $70 from Ikea and it is fantastic. The Expedit shelf.

You can set it horizontal or vertical, and 3 5000 count boxes fit PERFECTLY into each little space. When I say perfectly, it's like this piece of furniture was made specifically for card storage.

Highest possible recommendation.

Fandruw, can we get some finished pics of this?

Wow, this is a really old thread.

Here's the only one I have online right now.

I would love to own some of those wooden boxes with the plastic dividers. Right now my collection is in cheap plastic bins from the hardware store.

Nice Druw.

Any estimate on how many cards it holds total?
Per Drawer?

I'll guess around 225-250 per drawer....They are 24 inches each, and all my cards are in toploaders. My entire Jones collection only takes up about half the cabinet and thats with lots space behind some of the cards. Each drawer has it's own year so for instance 2009 only has 8 cards in it. 1998 and 2007 are the only ones that needed two drawers.

Fandruw, just curious, but what did that cost you?

$750. I got a kid that was in high school to make this as his senior project so I kinda lucked out. I had gotten other estimates from carpenters and they were anywhere from $1,000 - $2,200.

The shelves are strong enough for 3 5000 ct boxes each? Do they stick out at all, or anything of that sort?
