I know I am essentially retired from collecting, but I think if I had a somewhat spread-out, somewhat pricey, and honest goal, I would still have a connection to the hobby. One idea I've had for many years was to compile a list of RCs that somehow connect to me. Some are abstract and others fit a mold. So here are my top ten RC/parallels that I would love to own. Odds are good it will never happen though.
1. 1954 Hank Aaron PSA 4 or higher: No real explanation needed. Who wouldn't want this card?
2. 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. BGS 9.5 with older label: My favorite player when I began my love affair with baseball.
3. 1994 Flair Alex Rodriguez BGS 9.5 with older label: Probably the least expensive card on the list. I remember I bought this card back in maybe 1997 in BGS 8.5. I sold or traded it. One of my favorites.
4. 1995 Bowman's Best Vladimir Guerrero Refractor BGS 8.5 or higher: A great player and one of the best RC parallels of the 90s. Plus I love the whole condition sensitive angle.
5. 1998 Bowman Chome Lance Berkman International Refractor BGS 9 or higher: One of the greatest stros, great parallel, no-brainer.
6. 1999 Bowman Chrome Tim Hudson International Refractor BGS 9 or higher (9.5 centering is a must): My favorite pitcher for many years. This is an amazing parallel.
7. 2000 SPX Roy Oswalt BGS 9.5: It goes without saying.
8. 2001 Elite Ichiro BGS 9 or higher: I actually missed out on owning this card this year. I think it went for around $140. One of my favorite sets, and one of my favorite players.
The other two will come to me. These are a good start. Does anyone have any of them?
