The Griffey went to the new addy you had on-file. According to the info you had presented them, that is the one you keep!

Greetings....

1st, Because the product includes over 2500 unique cards, best of products generally do not have a detailed checklist. However, ROOKIE RETRO DOES have a complete checklist prior to release (since the card count is managable).

2nd, the card in question was pruchased before the national. The person selling probably forgot to delete it from ebay. Clearly, the card did not sell on ebay.

I appreciate your concern on this topic, I can assure you there is no reason to worry. Please congratulate the collector on a NICE PULL.

With full disclosure, a number of cards we had submitted to Beckett for slabbing ourselves (prior to the national and release date) were delayed due to the national. These cards were indeed packed out shortly after release, however they were part of our originally purchased cards for the product and were used to finish cases which were not ready for release but already presold to our direct accounts..

Hopefully this sheds light... As always, I am available by email (brian@leaftradingcards.com) or phone 214-393-4510 to discuss issues/questions anytime. There is no need to guess, speculate or theorize as I am happy to share information to the best of my ability.

PLease address any additional questions to the phone or email above as i will be unable to monitor boards for the next 7-10 days... Thanks.. Brian (BG)

A real stand-up guy would keep the Utley (since you got it first) and send back the Griffey. You know I'm right.

Guess im not a stand up guy then, but luckily for Topps im enough of one to at least offer to send one of them back. A lot of people im sure would just keep both.

And the fact that these were all shipped out about a month and a half ago they obviously didnt have 100 winners for this one to still be sitting at Topps for them to send me. It would have just sat at Topps until it got backdoored or sent out as a replacement.

Don't entertain him Ken. There's nothing wrong with what you are doing. Both cards were intended for you and you are doing an honest thing sending one back.

Crazy story and congrats.

As for being a stand up guy, I agree. In my opinion, most would keep both and say nothing; few would contact Topps and offer to send one back; and nearly zero people would contact Topps, offer to send one back and send the Griffey between the two (Utley collectors only)

Update:

I received an email back stating they were short one card and were very happy i was being honest and willing to send one back.

And just because it was bugging me i asked if it mattered which card i sent back and was told to keep whichever one i wanted for my troubles.

Keep the utley and sell the Griffey. Take the bank you make and buy more mini boxes. Then list the hits and keep that money......I would do this all day if it was me.

Sent from using my multiple cards sent to me by Topps and Sports Cards by Freedom Card Board.com
