That would make you stop collecting, say your done or at the very least make you sit back and revel in complacency at what you have.
This thread has been done before but let's add items beyond cards. Keep it sports or hobby related. Maybe it is a card. Maybe a bat or full game jersey.. What is that item for you?
Me, I've never been into full memorabilia or signed balls. Cards are pretty much it but if I were to ever pull or acquire a Lou Gehrig autograph in any form...card, slabbed cut or authenticated ball.. I can honestly say I would peek in here still but for collecting I'd be done for a while. I would sit back and enjoy that like no other item in my collection. I'd probably make some people physically sick from talking about it so much.. BUT, you get the idea. Let's hear it

Interesting question. I tend to pick up most of the Adam Dunn autograph cards that I dont have (if the price is not crazy) but I can't afford all of the full game used items I collect (mostly bats). I go for what I like.

The Diamond King super jumbo promo. That card would make me take a break financially for sure.

There's not an item that would make me to stop collecting but I would be pretty darn happy to find a 1993 California Highway Patrol card or 2002 Topps 206 American Beauty (PR of 5)

I see what you're saying. Although I just can't seem to quit, there was a card that totally lifted this grip the hobby had on me: 1996 Mirror Gold. Once I got that card on hand, I honestly had a calmer feeling about my collection. It was "the" card at the top of my list since release, kind of the ultimate card, if you will. There are still cards at the top of my mythological want-list, but there's no pressure, no "dying to have it". There is no card that I "need" to have in my collection anymore. It's a noticeably different feeling. Keep in mind, there are still literally thousands of Gwynn cards I need (and will get someday...mwahahaa!)

It would not get me to stop collecting or anything but the one item I want and will not feel complete without is a Babe Ruth signed baseball. It's something that I have always wanted and my "collecting" will not feel complete until I have one at some point :)

Definitely a Gaylord Perry game used jersey. If I were ever able to get my hands on one of his Cy Young awards, that would be a definite completion to my collection.

Jeff Bagwell on display in my house in his usual batting stance!

Seriously though, if I ever get even close to all of the Bagwell cards made, I'd call it quits. If just enjoy what I have.
