The Foil etching that Ultra was famous for
1995 Power Plus

Visual help would be nice for anyone that has something in their bucket.

Pacific didn't have any foil etching that I am aware of.

My idea of a perfect hobby...

-maximum of 3 MLB licensed card companies
-maximum of 4 released products annually per company
-maximum of 1 game used set per release with an allowed 1 parallel to said set
-maximum of 2 autograph set per release with an allowed 1 parallel to said set (1 auto set for just normal autographs, and another specialty auto set such as an auto'd patch, auto'd inscription, double, triple, quad, auto etc)
-limit of 2 parallels to the base set
-the glorious return of the favored insert sets from the 90's

This would dry the market of overproduced autos and jerseys, deflate the prices of boxes/cases, inflate the prices of inserts and base rookie cards, reintroduce the hobby to a broader audience of collectors. Then again, I'm not a proponent of regulation in the government thus I can't be hypocritical and expect the MLBPA to do such a thing.

Bring back a Set with each teams 40 man roster (UD 40man, Topps Total).

A legends/retired player set per company. Topps Fan Faves and the return of a true UD Legends/Legendary Cuts set (retired players only) would work just fine. AS long as the autos were hard signed on-card, I could limit my collecting to these two sets every year and be completely happy.

I also second the motion on Dufex.

the return of Topps Total - a very comprehensive set of each team with a decent price point to make setbuilding fun and not that expensive.

also, UD USA Box Sets with a price point of $50 or less with 2-3 autos and 2-3 gu jerseys per box. Maybe it's time to yank UD from making them and return it to USA Baseball to produce.

I'll trade a bunch of crap for Topps Pristine. Maybe I was the only one, but i LOVED those sets. Topps can murder Finest or Co-Signers for them. But get rid of the stickers please.

And I'll second Topps All Time Fan Favorites

And for all the crap UD puts out (X, Ballpark, Yankees ****), they can kill that in favor of the return of Reflections.

1. Full career stats on the back of cards. It used to be that cards told the story of a player who stats, and a couple of lines of text. Don't know if any of the newer sets do that anymore (I do like the Bowman backs as well.)
2. Bring back Topps Traded as a boxed set. Was a great release and was something "different."
3. On card Auto's on clear (acetate?) cards. Those look awesome
4. Sets that promote baseball and baseball history (it's an embarrassment that there has never once been a ***** League set, and the best they've done was 2001 Fleer Tradition Stitches in Time insert set (with auto'd and game-used versions.)
5. Some forward thinking. The card companies continue to do things that make it difficult if not impossible for the markets to maintain value long term.

There have been ***** League sets. Some of them quite large. None have been made by the big boys though, so maybe that was your point. I would love a high quality ***** League set.

The biggest thing I wish would return to the hobby is a lower overall SRP. This would increase the number of kids in the hobby and insure the future of the hobby. 1993 Topps is a perfect example of this. One gold card per pack, low price point, and a lot of fun to put together as a child.

That was what I meant. It's an embarrassment.

Topps Gold Label.

PLUS 100000000000000

This was the first "high dollar" box I bought from Walmart. I put it on layaway and paid a little each week.

I loved that set!

(Move over Pacific, I smell a side project)

Parallel schemes always get more and more elaborate with each subsequent release of a product. Companies have the urge to build upon the previous year's parallel scheme. I would like for that to stop. Just be content with a single parallel, or a few parallels. It was like that for many years and worked just fine, there is no need to go beyond that. I would wish that kind of simplicity returns to the hobby.

The return of great looking sets that were made with great imagination by the company. No autos or game jerseys. Maybe one auto as a case hit. Instead, just a real great looking base card set with awesome inserts such as diecuts. Diecuts such as the old pacific ones or maybe stadium in the shapes of gloves with the raised surfaces. Maybe have a parallel set with the inserts of maybe gold numbered to 50. Just something off the top of my head.

It wouldnt sell well sadly.

It would with me for sure.I too would like to see the base card come back into popularity instead of merely being thrown around like they are just trash that gets thrown in with the good cards.I also would love to see more diecuts. The diecuts are my favorite part of cards.

YES! It was nice to track the progress and/or decline of a player through the years! :)
