Dirk Nowitzki and Dallas agreed on a 4 year deal worth at least $80 Million. Says my text from espn
Another case of money is more important than winning. Dallas will never win a championship, well not in the forseeable future. But hey great for him he got that much.

You sir, know nothing about this signing then.

Dirk LEFT money on the table, so the Mavs could use it to better the team.

This is NOT a max deal (which he deserves). He opted out and then resigned because he wanted a) a no trade clause (one of only two in the league, Kobe being the other) and b) a long term contract before the next CBA.

Remember, Dirk's not the one who traded Devin Harris for Jason Kidd and he's not the one overpaying Eric Dampier or Jason Terry.

Maybe educate yourself before posting an idiotic reply?

Think it's more about loyalty and not having the heart to bail on someone (Cuban) who has treated him so great.
Can;t help but thin kit's the same situation Lebron may be finding himself in.....as I have a hunch he may be staying in Cleveland.

Sadly not every great player wins a championship....just the way things are.....and no matter where Dirk ended up it's not like it would have been guaranteed, so I guess he choose the place he considers his home.

Hmmm....Maybe the NBA already knows something we don't. Just saw on the local news that NBA.Com had #6 James Bulls jersey's for sale on the site (only for Chicago no other teams), though they were taken down soon after. :P

Bleh! Not good!
I wouldn't have minded a max deal for 3-4 years or a much cheaper deal for 6 years, but to pay Joe Johnson $20 million a year including the final year in which he's thirty-five?!?! :x
Joe Johnson's not even a fan favorite or anything. I want him back on the team, but not with this contract.

Amare Stoudemire agrees to a 5-year contract worth $100 million to the damn Knicks. ::facepalm::. So much for the dream  but unless Bron Bron goes to NY he will be on a horrid team. Should of just stayed in Phoenix

The more I think about it the more it makes no sense to me that the Knicks have offered him that contract.....I heard reports that they have to do something, they have to give the fans something to look forward to, yadda yadda......but how does that make any sense? The Knicks would be letting go a PF in Lee that averages 20 ppg 11 reb and bringing in a more expensive PF Amar'e that averages 22 ppg and 7 reb. That is supposed to make Knick fans happy?
WTF?

Amare greatly excels in D'antoni's style of offense. He posted his best PPG, RPG, and BPG if that means anything...

It also opens the door for the Knicks. Tony Parker and Carmelo Anthony have already talked to Amare expressing interest in playing with him.

Several ways that this contract can be turned into a positive, but I'll be the first to say I will miss David Lee. He will still be my favorite player and I will never get rid of his game-used shoes or warm-up :D

In three years they will be trying to dump his contract onto someone else. Terrible move IMHO.

Looks much better than paying Joe Johnson 20 mil at the age of 35.

I mean I'm not a huge fan of it, but I think it can really be a positive thing if some pieces fall into place... emphasize the IF

And signing A'mare will get some fan excitement back too. Personally though, I don't think he's that much better than Lee.

Even if they only get just him this year, they're still in great shape for next year when 'Melo probably becomes available.

While the numbers are similar, Amare has a slightly better offensive instinct than Lee. Amare got to the line and stopped the clock more than DOUBLE of what Lee was able to do. Amare is also a tad better defensively (not saying much as they are both bottom of the barrel, but any little bit helps).

Another key aspect will be if the Knicks can bring in a great point guard to assist Amare with the pick and roll, much like Nash did in PHX.

But I agree, for what we could of paid Lee (12-13M) he appeared to be the better option. The Knicks view the signing of Amare as a potential key to other deals that can fall into place.

Cleveland is talking about a sign and trade with Toronto invloving Chris Both. Not sure if will go through, but him and Lebron would be good together.

Lebron is staying here if that happens.

As he should. If Cleveland can bring in Bosh to pair with Lebron it gives Lebron exactly what he needed.

I can't believe that Varejao/Hickson, Delonte West, Anthony Parker and a draft pick is better than anything other teams (Houston, Dallas, Chicago) could offer them for him.

That aside, Bosh is making it pretty obvious he doesn't want to play for Cleveland though.

What are other teams offering?I seen the 3 players that Houston was offering for someone.Wildthing is overpaid, but is a solid defender who has shown he can hit outside shots if needed,Hickson is going to be godd when he starts to hit a outside shot,West is a bargain for what he will make in 2011 and has a 500,000 buyout and Parker is average at best.

I know that the Rockets have talked about sending back Kyle Lowry, Shane Battier, Chase Budinger and picks (one of which could be one of the Knicks' future picks).

Dallas could offer Dampier's expiring contract, Caron Butler or Jason Terry, a young Pg in Jose Juan Barea or Roddy Babeouis (can't spell his last name) and draft picks.

Out of those three teams, Butler/Terry and Battier are easily the best players.

Not sure what other teams would offer (the Nets would start with Derrick Favors, which would be THE best offer they would get).

Guess if the Bosh - Cavs thing happens, that's not all that bad for the Bulls. At that point I'd have to imagine the Wade scenario could come to fruition. Guess there's an outside shot Wade could head to NY, but I can't imagine him going back to Miami with nobody.
