First off, let me say, I have no idea who qualifies for the HOF unless you give me a Kobe, LeBron, Shaq, etc....the OBVIOUS....but someone like Chris Mullin...those are borderline HOF, right?

I'm just wondering your thoughts on Ginobli...I have no bias towards the man...I don't even like the Spurs....but the guy seems to be at the front (even those most of the time he doesn't start) of all the Spurs highlights...and he has 3 championships...2x All-Star...

Is that enough? If not...what does he need to do?

Again, I'm not here to debate it. I have no clue what are the perimeters for a HOF in the NBA unless it's an ELITE player...

Interesting question. I think a couple of years ago it was far more likely, but his scoring has fallen off with age and injuries. The one thing about the basketball hall of fame is that it seems to take other levels of the sport into higher consideration than the other pro sports. So his play in the olympics will factor in. At the end of the day I see his play continuing to slip over the remainder of this contract, and he doesn't get in.

Here's an interesting breakdown of hall of fame probability.

Ok, here's a question...again, I have no real argument here, it's just more of a..."what if" scenario...

What legendary stat would he have to get in order to get serious consideration? I mean the clutch factor and championships are there. Even the AS games are there. So now it comes down to stats...what does he need? Legit question.

I would say he has a chance with a few more quality years in the NBA. The thing to remember is that the basketball Hall of Fame is not just based on NBA numbers, it's your contribution to the game. Ginobli was an MVP and won a championship in the Euro League and led Argentina to a gold medal in the Olympics.

He will get in eventually. Without a doubt.

This was my thought too but, again, I'm no NBA HOF expert. I was along the lines of....he's not a lock...but he's contributed to the sport in all the ways the HOF wants....

is there a timeline like the MLB voting? With baseball if you don't make 5% of the vote you are out or 15 years and you are gone.

I get the stuff he did prior to playing in the NBA, and all his olympic medals and nba titles.

Bottom line, I just think it's going to be hard for people to vote in a guy who for his career is probably going to average under 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. That's his career line right now and he's seemed to settle into a 12ppg role this year and last year.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets in, I just think it will be hard for him to do it.

I think he has a strong possibility to get in.

His Olympic appearances will help him, playing on multiple NBA championship teams, being one of the better international players (both before his career in the NBA and during) will all help give himthat nudge.
