Nebraska AD Tom Osborne has submitted a three-game series (two games in Lincoln, one in Boise) offer to Boise State AD Gene Bleymaier. Only problem is that Osborne offered it 2 1/2 months ago and still no reply.

C'mon Broncos, what are you waiting for... ::facepalm::

...there are bigger programs out there, yanno. It's not the 90's anymore.

Or maybe they're scarred of the ghost of lawrence phillips.

Either way, I'm sure it's just a money thing. It's always a money thing with those established programs. Boise probably scoffed at the % of take-home or whatever, they'd get from the 2 games at mem. stadium.

You don't think they were offered close to $1 million per game?

EDIT: This is honestly one of the better offers they are going to get from a "bigger" school, because none of today's top tier programs with national championship aspirations are going to risk scheduling Boise State anytime soon. There is zero upside for them to that.

Based on the past few seasons, Boise State should have the two home games and Nebraska gets one.

Most of the time its not money that kills these games from happening but ticket allotment. You usually have schools like Nebraska wanting 50 percent of all tickets at both the home and away stadium. What does that do ? Create a un-home like atmosphere for Boise State. This is why Alabama liked the opening kickoff games in Atlanta vs Clemson and Virginia Tech, tickets are split 50/50. Also, why they played FSU in the neutral site in Jacksonville Saban's 1st year.

It doesn't really offer that much to Boise. If they beat Nebraska in Boise, its really not that big of a win anymore. And if they lose to Nebraska either in Boise or Nebraska then their season is over. For them to schedule non conference games they need to to be against top 10 teams, or schedule garbage teams and go undefeated.

Also, as mentioned, I'm sure Nebraska wanted at least 40% of the tickets and would essentially make the game in a neutral stadium, even though it would be in Boise

I'd be all over this if I was Boise State. You fill up your 5 non conference games with BCS conference teams and a top team will eventually come your way, either by them wanting to come play you or one of the teams you have scheduled gets hot. Just thinking you can play a weak non conference schedule and expect a team like Texas, Florida, Bama, Iowa, or even Ohio State to come calling is foolish. They can humble themselves to BCS conferences and play by their rules in order to build a strong foundation where they can eventually get respect and legit shots at the championship under the current system.

By money, I mean tickets, I guess -- or ticket revenues.

A game in Nebraska sells 88? Thousand Tickets. A Game in Boise sells 33K.

It's really tough for teams like Nebraska to sacrifice the income. Even the smaller Big-12 Schools are sporting 55K seating.

How much they offer up Boise is a big, big part of the deal because they'll be losing money when they play the away game.
