For my birthday party tomorrow (turning 15 :) ) I am going to a Harrisburg Senator/Reading Phillies game. The Phillies have a guy on their team, that I have a gold refractor of. I am thinking of getting it auto'ed. Is that a smart idea? Or would it completely destroy the value of the card? Also I was wondering, I am bringing Chromes of a couple guys on the team, and I have seem on some IP signed Chrome cards that get smeared and kinda fade. Is there anything I can do to prevent that? Can't wait for the game! Savery, Detwiler, and Michael Taylor :P :P

Happy Birthday. Should be a fun game. I wouldn't get a gold refractor signed if you plan on selling it down the road.

I would try to get the base or chrome signed, not the golds.

I had Taylor sign some chrome last year and the auto did not stick. I can't remember who told me afterwards to wipe some baby powder on the cards before getting them signed...something about it allows the autograph not to smear. Hope that helps!

Look forward to some hits from Taylor!! :D

Either take baby powder and rub it on the front of the card and wipe it off, or take a white Hi-Polymer eraser and erase the front of the card. Make sure you use the Hi-Polymer since some other kinds can really mess up the card. Good luck :)

Haha thanks! :)

Do you remember how much baby powder you should put on the cards?

I hope to get a few autos of him :)

Thanks Ed

Haha, you're older than me. My birthday is in 6 days though, haha.

I'd use an eraser on the chromes, that always works for me.
