So a guy PMs me out of the blue asking about one of my PC cards.

Its my Steve Young / Jerry Rice dual Topps Auto. It books $350...he's offering $250.

My dilemma..thats a lot of money that I can definitely use.

However....I will never find this card again. Its one of the hardest auto's to find of theirs. I dunno what to do.

If he really wanted it, see if he will pay $300 right down the middle of both..

Re: Need Advise.....

If you were to sell it would you feel like you lost the best/cornerstone/favorite piece of your collection? If you sold it what would the funds be used for and if its for more cards then would you be happy if you traded the dual for what cards you would be buying? That's a lot of money for the card but sometimes money isn't everything it just depends how important that card is it you.

I try to never move PC but my advice would be it depends on what your gonna do with the $250. If your gonna just buy more cards with it then definately not. If you really need the $$ for your livelihood to pay rent or whatever then probably yes.

The card isn't going down in value, so unless you NEED (urgently) the money then I'd keep it. $250 is a lot but you can probably get that for it whenever you want.

It's just a card. If you are paying bills, sell it. If you are buying cards (unless it's something you want more) keep it.

Frankly if someone needs to sell cards to pay bills they need to get out of the hobby immediately. It's comical how many people go eBay shopping and 2 weeks later are making panic sale threads to pay the rent.

I personally wouldn't move this card at all, unless as stated, you are not going to be collecting going forward. You can get that same value all day any day. If you just don't have any interest in that card anymore or those players then for sure dump it. But it seems like you love that card so I would pass on selling it.

Shoot I'll make you a better deal. I'll give you 200 for it.
Nah really though I would keep the thing if it were me.
Who knows you may need it someday to trade for a bigger and better rookie card or something.

Why would the book value matter again? Its confusing why that was the first thing mentioned.

It should be about what you want to buy if you had the money, and whether or not that would be better than what you have.
