I caught a Derek Jeter HR ball in Cleveland years ago. I'd like to find out when it was and which HR of his it was. Can anyone help me?

I can't imagine Jeter's hit many in Cleveland, so it should be easy for me to pin point if he has multiple in Cleveland. I've looked online and I can't seem to figure out the date, game HR of his, etc. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Jeter has homered in Cleveland five times during the regular season:

8-24-04
9-19-99
9-18-99
9-24-97
4-2-96

Hopefully the one you caught was 4-2-96 -- it was on Opening Day and the first HR of his career!

This is it! Sunday September 19th, 1999. Was Jeter's 24th of HR of the year and 64th of his career. It was a rocket to left field and I remember a NY reporter cornering me after the attendants rushed me into the gated area in left under the bleachers. Real cool and appreciate all your help..

Why? Was there some significance of this game or ball. Or is it protocol to usher anyone who catches an opposing teams homerun ball. Hardly seemed note worth since it was his 24th of the season and his 64th of his career. In Wrigley they just throw it back and no one gets ushered anyplace....well in less you don't throw it back, you get crap from those around you.

Oh other then it was 9....19....19.99 I get it now. Well not really. Must have been a slow news day for the NYC Reporter. Hell they report on anything the Yankees players do.

I'll put it simple for you because it sounds like you've caught a ton of HR balls over the years. First, in Cleveland the HR porch is packed and become a mosh pit when a HR is hit (or at least thats how it was in the 90s when they were hot). Also, I was 15 at the time lol... someone was just trying to get me out of the pile-on and then a NY reporter asked me for my name, picture, etc. I don't know why but it seemed cool at the time. You're right, today if I were to catch a HR I might just toss it back or give it to a little kid but I was 15 and it was cool at the time. Nothing really special about the ball other than I caught it and I wanted to be able to note the time, place, which HR it was, etc. considering it is Jeter and he is a future HOFer. Sorry for partying :geek:

As for catching a homerun ball......I never have for this then I should have never commented :benson:
