This ball is 4 sale on Craiglists in the Cleveland area for 250.00,my friend has a interest in it,but not sure it real.I told him i would aski for opinions on here.

I'd tell him to put $250 towards a Mantle auto not signed in disappearing ink.

Considering that there are other signatures on that ball as well, I'd be more interested to see the rest of the ball. The Mantle signature could certainly be legitimate, but the quality is really poor.

Looking quickly at the 1965 roster (the most probable year), this appears to be a first half of the season ball, so it's plausible that a Maris signature could be there, but doubtful.

That said, the overall quality is fairly poor but it could be worth the trip to see it in person. Sometimes a bright flash can really dull a ball.

You can show him this one, has less sig. but a way better Mantle auto. Other 2 autos are Dale Long and Elroy Face.

Mantle's auto has changed into that version with the M's like a sail.
I doubt the ball is that old with his "newer" auto. Anyone who knows Craigs list knows about eBay. There is a reason it's there and NOT on ebay!

He was signing that way in the 60s, it was the majority of early 50s signatures that looked clearly different.

I just googled for any other exemplars...and here is this from a lelands auction

NOTE: This is supposed to be a 1965 Yankees team signed ball.

There are much better uses of $250. At best, it's a faded Mantle signature that might be a clubhouse, at worst, it's a playground forged piece of junk.
