So today I bought this V-Mart Majestic Authentic Collection jersey because I thought the ALCS patch was sweet and it was a good price. After looking through some Google images, I've realized some discrepancies between it and the on-field jerseys players wear. The first thing is that there doesn't appear to be a nameplate underneath the letters, they look sewn straight to the jersey. After looking on eBay at some other player's authentic jerseys, they all seem to have nameplates. Secondly, the silver outlining of the letters in 'Martinez' doesn't seem to be consistent with the player's jerseys, either. Theirs seem to have more of a drop shadow rather than a full outline.

I'm not having buyer's remorse at all, just kind of curious. If anyone could shed some light onto either of these issues I'd be extremely greatful.

Here's my jersey:

Every authentic jersey I have ever seen that has been newer(i.e. not old school throwbacks) has had a nameplate on it.I have seen no exceptions.I could be wrong of course but thats one of the first things I look for.

The nameplates vary by team. For example the Mariners last used nameplates in 2006. 2007 & 2008 do not have nameplates, and if you get a authentic customized at the team shop they do not include the nameplate like they used to.

I don't know what the Indians have done but if they still use nameplates and the shadowed names, I would have passed on this jersey no question. Just from the photos it appears to be a cheap replica and not an authentic, I also don't like that the name doesn't really arch much and the font on the 1 bothers me.

Again, I'm just saying I wouldn't have bought it based on the above things, but these types of jerseys are all over eBay for every team and I see people wear them to games, there must be a good market for them.

Your jersey is 100% fake in regards to the lettering. I don't know if you were looking for a true authentic, but that isn't even close. I'm a big believer in the real thing, and that's just not it. For $40, you will not find an authentic.

Regarding nameplates, some jerseys have them and some don't (this refers to authentics). I have authentic Pujols, Lincecum, A-Rod (doesn't apply here lol), Chris Young, and Morneau jerseys. The Morneau and Lincecum are the only ones with nameplates. It definitely varies from jersey to jersey, and you can see in game that they depend on the team.
