I usually collect baseball cards but want to get football as well.
So two questions

1. Is this a good idea.
2. Where is a good place to start, boxes years, ect.

Any help would be great.

I'm sure everybody on the football boards would love to have another collector on here. However, where to begin is something that should be answered by you. I mean who are you favorite players? Favorite teams? You could always just start collecting them. You could also just start collecting only HOF players or only rookie cards of today's best. You simply need a focus to your collection that will make you happy.

1) No.

2) Probably the best way to start is to buy the singles you want. Whether that is by team or player. If you are looking for boxes for 2009, good luck, it's been a rough go of it for most products so far. Absolute has been pretty popular though. Other popular products in the past have been SP Authentic, National Treasures, Contenders, and Leaf Limited.

Is this a good idea? It's a great idea.

As far as where to start, alot of guys would probably suggest saving your money on boxes and just going for singles to start off.

Do you have a favorite team/player/etc, or are you just looking to bust packs/boxes for the thrill?

Both thrill and wanting something outside baseball. Baseball seems to be dwindling more and more. I dont really have a favorite team. I mean certian players, Farve, AP, Greg Jennings ect. What would be a good product to start with. Both fun to break and good resale value. Keeping the cards I like, getting rid of those that I dont.

Thanks

Of course the top one would be something like National Treasures, but if you're looking for something a little more low budget, Topps Chrome is always nice imo.

I stayed with football b/c its less confusing to me than baseball. Although football is catching up it doesn't have nearly as many products as baseball.

I agree. I was baffled by the RC, RC Logo, and prospect cards when I decided to buy a few blaster boxes after a long hiatus. It was just irritating, and cause me to cease buying baseball products. If I want baseball cards, I'm either trading or buying singles of the guys from my teams.

Yeah. One reason im looking to switch is because UD is going away after this year for baseball. I need more options. Plus I always loved donruss/playoff and they no longer make baseball.
