Has anyone seen the stats Medchill has put up so far this season on the Staten Island Yankees?

He is batting .355 with 8 homers and 20 RBIs in 26 games and an OPS of 1.106!

I like that 18 of his 33 hits were atleast a double.

The only gross stat I see now is only 5 walks and 20Ks.

Not bad for a just turned 22yr old LF drafted in the 11th round.

If he keeps this up I see another good Yankee slugger, and oh yeah, he's a Lefty.

Montero also went deep again, only this time it was a grand slam. I see a bright future for the Yankees.

Does anyone think Medchill will turn out to be a sucessful MLB player (or will he end up playing for the Mets  )?

22 years old and in the Penn League? ::ducks from AKA::

You gotta start somewhere. He was drafted this year. He was drafted in 07 and 08, but decided to stay at school.

I don't think we need to woory about him staying in the Penn league for too long if he keeps up.

And when it comes to baseball I don't care if the guy is 22 or 20. The only thing it effects now is what cards will sell for, and he doesn't have any.

I don't see why people care so much if someone is 24 or 25 when they come up to the bigs. Give him two years to develop and he could be a great hitter.

Bonds is the only all time mega-star (hitter) that comes to mind that wasnt an everyday MLBer by the age of 22.
i think thats what has always made me a self-admitted "ageist"

i understand that "Prospecting" has little to do with ones age, but everything to do with timing of the flip to the
eBay sheep, but from a standpoint of someone that enjoys collecting mlb rookie cards, being long in the tooth
is a turn off
