His blue ref auto sold for $180...is this a new high? Ref for $78?!

I was thinking about holding my base, ref, xfrac, and blue ref but wow...it's certainly making me re-think my strategy!

His stuff is growing, but he's been promoted to high A, and in his case, that means the CAL.
I certainly don't see his numbers going down in the Cal, nor his cards.
I just have a refractor, but I'm going to hold on to it for a bit.

I have Trout stuff, I sold most of it too soon....however, If I had a dollar for everytime I heard "I don't see his cards going down or his numbers" I would be a rich man

True, but going to the California league certainly isn't notorious for making hitters look bad - correct? It usually makes them look overly good.

Also, I could flip that to say every time I thought a player has reached their ceiling, I sold too early. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately!) I've sold on plenty only to see I left money on the table more often than not.

I think you have to look at the larger picture. If Trout comes in anywhere near the top-5 of BA's 2010/11 list, what do you expect his prices to be? If Trout is downright awful in high-A, how far do you thinks he slips in the rankings? I doubt he goes past 20th. At that point, his refs will probably still be around 50.

Personally, I think there's a lot more upside than downside. With that said, I'll probably hold onto a bit of his stuff while selling a couple refs and sterlings.

If you've got a great hunch on someone that'll inflate more than Trout, it's not a stupid idea to sell now. But Trout's a pretty solid lock for a half-decent rise in price.

I agree here, this is why I've held out on my stuff of him. There's really nothing that will make his prices drop to where they were at release, so those who bought in early don't have much to lose since you will still be able to profit if he sucks in the 2nd half and his prices drop a little bit.

Hype will be very high for this guy for the rest of the season and beyond.

indeed, good points all around.
the only reason I'm even chiming in is because I've had to put up with this guy beating on my Timberrattlers, and just have a refractor auto.
I thought I'd just sell it, and then heard he got promoted. Then I thought, well, they're selling for 60+, how high can they get? It takes a lot for a refractor to get to 100, I know this.. but I get baffled pretty often when I think I've identified a ceiling. Especially in the last year or so.
I'm only making my decision to hold on the league he's going to. If it were the FSL, it'd be listed or sold by now. It's the Cal, so I can gamble. But who knows, maybe I won't, and I'll sell it tomorrow. There Are some Brewers cards I want afterall..

Either way, 60 for a refractor is a great sale, as is 78. The Futures Game exposure didn't hurt either. The only reason to sell this week would be if you had someone else in mind that's going to be hotter pretty soon, and I don't. May as well see where it goes, right?

I really missed the boat on him. I came very clsoe to start buying his cards when they first came out and went a different direction. :benson:

Anyone remember a recent hitting prospect that is this HOT (not hot for a week or two...but HOT as in the whole season) that is NOT a power hitting guy? I can't seem to think of one...or my memory is fading but can't think of one....

I had 15 of the 150 blue refs then dumped them because they had an inheriant dimple on his belt buckle and I was looking to grade I have 2 blues at bgs left  I think I have a ref kicking around too.

Someone here was going to pick me up a raw graded 9.5 BGS gold ref auto /50 but I didn't pick up my phone and he was at a show ::facepalm:: $175.

He does have a .526 slugging percentage. I think a lot of people see those doubles and triples and his age and definitely project him.

Anyways, i think the Hanley/Reyes lack of dingers/all projection kinda power is the way that Trout's rockin.
