A little background: When my mom downsized her house 3 years ago, I brought a ton of stuff back to my house including two large boxes of stamps. She collected them as a kid in the 50s up through the mid-80s. There hundreds of unused and postmarked stamps dating back to the 19th century (the oldest I've noticed was a Cuban stamp from 1855) thrown into a couple of smaller boxes. Thankfully, most of the collection was placed on sheets with mounts and cateloged.

Well, I started making some custom cards using the stamps, I'll need to make one for Pat Neshek and send it to him to get autographed. Here's the first ones I made and printed (have a few more designed but not printed). The stamps have some sort of connection to the player featured.

Very nice. I can envision you making up some for some of your TTM projects.
There were some with stadiums on them a few years back, too.

Nice idea...it would be great for some TTMs as well.

Definitely check on eBay, there were definitely some stamps of legendary baseball stadiums that would be very flexible.

Oh, and don't get mad if I borrow the idea that was borrowed from Leaf/Donruss...

There's a Babe Ruth stamp from 1983. I used to collect stamps and have that somewhere in my collection. That'll make a cool custom card.

Nice, but be careful as not to use one that is actaully worth something, becuase the card you make it with
will easily diminish the value of said stamp. :D

Might I suggest something to make sure the stamps are not damaged? When assembling the card, put the stamp into a nice "smaller size" penny sleeve (the ones that seem to just barely fit cards). Once in the sleeve, sandwich the sleeved stamp between the front and back of the card with the area above the stamp nice and smooth so there are no creases. It makes a nice covered/protected window.

Okay, how about using any of these with a cut?

Some singles of players...

Some football..

And take these state stamps and match them up with a player. How about the Hawaii stamp with a custom Shane Victorino? Maybe the 1968 Illinois stamp with an Ernie Banks design? I could handle a Joe Mauer with the Minnesota stamp.

How would this look with a nice Mantle pic?

And for the folks up North, how 'bout a nice Expos design for this one?
