Been kinda bored cards-wise lately.

Looking for a new PC or project to undertake.

Either player related or insert/set related.

Any sport too.

I have small PCs of some players but from back in 80s and 90s, so before parallels and numbered cards. Some recent inserts too but not much.

Kinda limited budget lately so high end stuff, like my dream project, 1954 Topps, is off the table. Tried high grade 1989 Score Football set a while back, but couldn't keep it going.

I'd like for it to add value, esp long term, since my kids have no interest in cards and will sell it off, but it's not necessary.

Any recommendations?

Assemble a full set of 1993 Donruss Elite!

And then send them to me :-)

But seriously, that one has been in the back of my mind for 33 years...

I did rip a '92 Donruss box about a year ago.

Of course, no Elite but was kinda fun...

It's funny how nobody has EVER pulled an Elite from those years of Donruss. But yet they're all over ebay. It tells you how many billions of cards they printed in those days...

I like the raw vintage set idea. A bunch of them from the 70's wouldn't be too expensive yet. '73 has a ton of HOF'ers in it that are still reasonably priced but are all-time great names like Mays, Clemente, Aaron, Rose. People always love the '72 or '75 sets because of the designs too.

You could also do a playing days run of a HOF'er. I've done Ernie Banks and Nolan Ryan (only went to '80 since he also played in the junk wax era). I've tossed around the idea of doing Clemente too since I already have his RC which would drastically reduce the cost since it's so expensive. For Banks I went deeper and did all his Topps/OPC/Venezuelan, for Ryan I just stuck with Topps.

Trying to complete the Desert Shield set would be cool and always hold value.

It might be quite the undertaking, but trying to complete a signed junk era set. You probably already have a ton of extras laying around taking up space anyways and I'd assume those guys would be old enough that a lot sign ttm.

Around 1995 or so. I picked up a pack of the Conlon baseball cards at a local convivence store. The cards are reprint cards of actual negatives pictures of vintage pre ww 2 players. I saw that there was one card with a player with my last name. I showed my wife the card. She kind of rolled her eyes and said " are you going to collect him too ? " I said 'hell yeah !" I collected mostly low grade cards of the player that I could afford. Then I started collecting cards of players in any sport with my last name. I have about 50 cards (or more) of different players in all sports from baseball, football, soccer Australian rugby and boxing etc. I had an agreement with my wife that I could would ask her first if I could buy a card over $200.00 in value. She always said yes ! Bless her soul. ❤️

I loved that set and have a ton of them.

A lot of those guys never had cards of any kind.

I think they ended up doing like 4 series of them...

I tried doing one of each of the Banks cards, but couldn't get the early ones. Still have 5-6 of 'em...

When I started building Topps baseball sets around 1990 or so. Someone on ebay had an auction for about 20,000 Topps baseball cards in excellent or better condition. I took a chance and bid $350.00. The auction said if the winning bid went over $300.00. The shipping would be free. I got lucky. The cards were from 1972 to 1985. And the cards were ex or better. I did good on the auction. I started a bunch of sets and traded a bunch and even sold some cards.

My wife and I had a little bit of extra money back then. I asked her if I could collect baseball cards. She said "but you don't even follow sports." I don't. Of course she said yes. Because it makes me happy.

I've been trying to start putting some of the little sets from the mid 90's to early to mid 2000's of just Mariners.

1995 Donruss Studio Cred Card set.. each player should have a base, Gold, and a Platinum.
Decently priced. $15.82 to complete the A-Rod.

Alex Rodriguez Platinum - $8.11 delivered.
