Hey guys! I currently have a Troy Tulowitzki collection going but I think I'm going to be dumping his cards during the post season (win or lose for the Rockies). I'm looking to start up a new player collection in the off-season. Here's the deal:

I'm looking for a player who was a rookie in between the years '01 - Current. This player must have bowman (chrome) rookie cards - autographs available - especially in Sweet Spots (such a great looking set).

I am a Twins fan - not limited to twins players though. This player could be a current prospect/rookie/2nd year/or a few years in. Someone who has great potential but has not lived up to it yet!

The contest portion:

I am offering one of these two cards as a prize for whomever influences my decision the most. I'm hoping to have found a new player to collect within the next day or two. A pre-thanks goes out to all of those who help me on this mission!

1. Only has two rookie autgraphs, but has paralells of each which would be fun to accumulate

2. His BEST cards are fairly cheap, and has bowman chrome Rookie card

3. Pretty good selection of his cards on the market

4. The main reason, he is a STUD and should start challenging for the Cy Young as early as next year

Good luck on who you choose!

Chris Coghlan or Jeff Niemann

Both are quickly moving up the Rookie of the year list. Both are still pretty cheap.

Coghlan is a hitting machine and is batting well over .300 since being put in the lead off spot.

Niemann continues to pitch great at home, and his last few roads starts have been very impressive

I have been a player collecter for years and I would recommend picking a player from your favorite team. It helps one to stay passionate about collecting because it means more to you. If you had a collection currently of a Twins player you probably wouldn't be unloading it as you are the Tulo's. I'd pick Baker, Slowey or Span and go with it.

Andrew McCutchen. The guy is only 22 and he has cards in 2005. He will still be coming out with more this year, and is rookie of the year contender. He has developing power, and amazing speed. He has been compared to Barry Bonds in his pirates days.

Delmon Young. He has Chrome Autos, Sweet Spot Autos, and he has GREAT potential which hasn't been filled yet. Good luck with your decision.

EDIT: And he's also on the Twins

I recommend the exact opposite. Go outside your team to find a player collection if it's a younger player. There is a lot that can happen between trades and contracts that could land your player on another team. I've tried collecting guys from home town teams and I ended up losing interest when they get traded or sign somewhere else.

I do recommend taking someone that may have played for your team before and then got traded. This way you have a history of watching him, but won't lose interest if he gets traded. Maybe someone like Matt Garza who has the twins connection.

These are the exact reasons why I collect retired players. To the OP, I would collect
a retired favorite or a guy who's been with the team for a long time. If I were a Twins
fan, my choices would be...

1. Killebrew
1A. Puckett
2. Morneau
2A. Mauer

All 4 have a ton of great autos/game used/inserts available.

I really do like the option of having Mauer as a new player collection - but I really also like Span.

A point was proven when it comes to reaching outside of my team just in case my player is traded to another team that I do not like - for example - when Darin Erstad was traded to the White Sox (I'm from North Dakota - as is Darin Erstad) I lost interest in the boy - but still follow a little.

As of now - I have favore of Delmon Young!

Top 1- Great pitcher, and last I checked his cards were really affordable.
