I have started to take my miggy PC in a different direction, still collecting all the rare cards, but also trying to get EVERY card he has

when i go to beckett, and search miggy by year, under 2000 and 2001, he has a ton of non MLB cards

do you guys include those and try and go after them, or do you not count them at all

also there is venezuelan cards that appear to be stickers or something, do you count those?

thanks

Re: Question for Player Collectors

In my opinion count whatever you would like to have in your collection.

Then again I don't "super" collect either of my player - just what I can get.

Re: Question for Player Collectors

If you like them, grab em. It's all about what you want. Most player collectors include them but not all do.

Re: Question for Player Collectors

When it comes to oddball items or unlicensed cards, I go after them if I like the design. Got to keep it simple, if you like it then go for it, if not, don't.

Re: Question for Player Collectors

My question for you is: would you enjoy putting those items in your collection?

While they may never increase in value, would they make your collection feel complete?

Granted, I'm not out to get hosed on the items I add to my PC, I want to get a decent price, but I don't purchase items with the goal of striking it rich or adding monetary value.

To me, a person isn't a player collector if they define their collection by the guidelines of an antiquated sports card pricing company...they're "wanna-be" profiteers. I don't know why anyone would allow what makes them happy to be defined by someone else's description of value.

Oddball items in my collection are some of my most cherished.

exactly, i like them and they would make my collection feel more complete

BUT

these cards for some reason are the most expensive "base/insert" cards he has

these midwestern league cards etc, are all at 300 plus dollar BIN's

i dont wanna get hosed, does anyone know where to get these for a decent price, or are they supposed to be that much

also it seems a lot of them are graded for some reason

Re: Question for Player Collectors

I count them all!

Keep in mind that the Beckett checklist (while more complete than anyone/anywhere else) is going to miss some legit card issues and include a few other items that shouldn't be in there (pins etc)

Re: Question for Player Collectors

ok now that i have decided to do them all, let me ask another question

with base and especially with star players of today who have a ton of base/unlicnesed rookies from 1999-2002

where do you get these cards

on ebay they have BINS of 30 plus

then even at auction you are going to have to put up with shipping plus cost of winning (so 1 dollar plus 4 , for one base card is a lot)

what do you do?

Dude! Wait for those cards to show up at auction! Do not pay around $300 for those

I don't know the cards you're looking for, but a lot of those early cards come in team set form. I'd look for poorly listed team sets on eBay...I've gotten some great cards that way.

what percentages do you have on each of your player collections?

About 90% on Bucky Jacobsen and 70ish or more on everything else.
