I just got a new scanner and I like it a lot. The only problem I have with it is the streaks it leaves on refractors. Example:

I have seen this with some other member scanners(ProspectAdvantage) and I am wondering if I can do anything to correct this? Here is a example of a non refractor.

Also graded refractor

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

myself of that the last time did scan a refractor. No never mind that was not it.

try scanning it sideways and see if that helps , as far as doing it top down it gives it black background which is nice, and no you do not need to turn the lights off for that

i can assure you it is not going to be fun trying to figure out.
you may not be able to without dulling the scan quite a bit.
those are very nice sharp scans, good size and all, so go into
your scanning program settings and just try different scanning options.
good luck

Thank guys for all the help. I have been messing around with it since I got it and nothing has worked. When I do change the card vertical to horzintal it is better. Here is a example:

Not sure what I am going to do. It is going to be real pain to return since it is from a online store.

Also it is Espon perfection v300.

I've seen scans from the Epson that don't look like that. I'm not sure what settings you need to use though.

Can you email their customer service? They might be able to help or at least point you in the right direction as to what settings to play with.

Ohh that's a good idea. I didn't even think of that. There "help" section is worthless. I'm going to send them an email right now.

chuckbartowski- I know, The v200 looks great.

Thanks for the help. I looked around and nothing really fits me so I sent them an email. I will update this with the reply in case anybody else wants to know.

Did you ever get your scanner working correctly?

Nope. I sent them an email and there response was about connectivity issues. :( I will probably just return it and get either a Epson 4490 or a Canoscan 4400.

Well...it scans non-refs quite nicely! ;)

Yes it does. I like Epson software too. I know exactly why it is doing this too, instead of one solid light, it is a bunch of small LED lights.
