I've looked over at vintage mutiple times, and finally I think I'm going to get into it. I like the idea of getting cards of past greats and keeping them over years, not only do they hold value but its more excitment to it. I've always wanted a sick collection but with the number of 1/1's and lettermans and multiple sets each year its hard to afford these cards and sad to watch them go down in value. I haven't decided if I'm going to do a graded set or a player collection, I know I'd be going for Ted Williams though if I did any kind of PC. Anyway just posting this so you guys can help me out maybe, not sure if there is anything I need to know before getting into vintage but if it is I knew this would be the place to post... Thanks!

Legit Investments,

Welcome to the Darkside of collecting! If you don't mind me asking what motivated you to start collecting vintage cards? There are very different rules of collecting vintage cards than collecting modern stuff. If you are truely passionate about collecting vintage I recommend doing research before you jump into the water. Don't get me wrong the water is great but you have to be extra carefull because a lot of knuckle heads out there like to rip off beginners who don't know any better. Try and surround yourself around people who have been collecting vintage cards for a long time and learn as much as possible from them. There are many websites on the web that will help you gain knowledge about the vintage side. Other than that have fun with your new found intrest. Collecting vintage is a very rewarding. Good luck and Happy Collecting!

Well I got interested by modern cards, such as Heritage, OPC, Turkey Red and other sets that were made as remakes from vintage cards. My favorite aspect of baseball is hitting, not really power (tho I like power) but just hitting in general. And Ted Williams was a contact hitter, I just love players with contact. Now of days cards are water down and the value of them just keep going down, a lot of card companies aren't doing well and I think the vintage cards are going to be the cards that people are going to start getting into. The main reason is that I was excited about collecting again, I haven't had that fire in a long time. Now I'm just streessed out on what I want to do. Completing the 59 Fleer set of Williams PSA was may be on of my goals, or just flat out starting a Graded vintage PC of Ted Williams.
