I recently picked up this Joe Mauer Topps Chrome RC refractor in trade at a show, it books at $50. Thought I'd pop it on Ebay and get at least 1/2 book for it, maybe a little more. Boy was I surprised when I saw it after it ended, no way I thought this was a hot card:

There were only "Gold" Refractor and Black Refractor parallels in 2002 Topps Chrome. Nice sale.

Oh my last year I gave one of those away to a kid across town from me ::facepalm:: , since he said he like him
and collected his stuff. I have to sneak into his house and get it back. :D

It'd be like calling a 2007 Topps Chrome base refractor a "black refractor", IMO. Unless this actually says gold refractor on the back. I don't know much about 2002 Topps Chrome.

It is a nice sale though.

They are actually called Gold Refractors in the Beckett guide.

Another reason why BV is completely irrelevant. Your's sold for $125, and one a week ago sold for $110.

You are correct here... The guy I got it from had a $50 gold ref tag on it and thats the value I gave up in trade.

Man if you invested in Mauer in early 2009 you would have an amazing ROI.

It's getting really hard to hold on to my Mauer collection at this point. Really is there any way prices could get better at any point in the future?

Yes. World Series MVP. I think he will always be a fan favorite as well.

Anything is possible, but I do think it is highly unlikely. If I had a PC I'd pretty much be moving everything that is replaceable.

I have so much rare Mauer stuff that its actually overflowing in my boxes. I actually bought more than I should have when he was hurt - before the big boom. Now, if I sold it all, I would easily have enough to buy anything I wanted for anyone. The problem is, so much of the stuff is irreplaceable, I dont think I could live with myself if I did sell. Sometimes being a fan is more important than making 1000+ as a ROI.

I have a Mauer auto'd Just Minors black mini-bat #'d to 50 from a few years back. I don't think it'll ever be worth anything.

You might be surprised

I would bet at least $30-$40

Thanked. And that's for the blonde bat with who knows how many bats signed. Black has a #'d to 50 sticker on it. That auction also has $15 shipping. I think I'd pull at least $45 dlvd. I'll hang onto it, though. Was one of my favorite Wal-Mart pulls. They had two boxes of this on clearance for like $15/per. The other one was a Dontrelle blonde that I traded when he was worth something.

Any thoughts if an unredeemed, expired Auto would sell for anything??
