Happy Birthday Mr. Nick, as my son Andrew would say, Happy birthday. May you stand at the field of dreams playing the game of your life with God as your catcher.

Nick Adenhart would have been 23 today. Why do the good die young?

Check out his wikipedia page it is very nice.

I found this I hope it is to not spiritual for most of you. If it is use it like a shopping cart at the grocery store and take what you need.

It is always difficult to deal with the death of a young person. None of us understand why such things happen. If God has anything to do with it, I don't understand what He's thinking. What's his purpose? What's the point? Why is such sorrow brought upon spouses, parents, friends, and relatives? Sometimes I shudder when, in such circumstances, I hear people say, "It's God's will". I don't like to let God off the hook so easily. There is probably a very thin line between what God wills and what God allows. I will accept the fact that many things in life are a mystery and one can have lengthy theological discussions about God and evil and why bad things happen to good people. I don't understand everything that happens in life and I certainly cannot give my friend or others easy explanations for why 18 year old's die and other's live to be 100 years old. Do the good die young? Yes, sometimes. Do bad people live long lives? Yes, sometimes. Do some of us live long lives because we need a lot of time for a deep spiritual transformation to take place within us? This is very likely. Life really is a mystery. It is not likely we will solve it's mystery this side of the grave. Through faith we believe and trust that our lives and the lives of others, no matter how short, have a purpose and life is not just a series of random, meaningless experiences. I must believe that life and pain have meaning and someday I hope understand it. Part of the mystery of life is that we never know when it will end. This should motivate us to live each day well and to the fullest.

:(

Frakkkin' idiotic drunk drivers. What kills me is that if the drunk arse who ran the red light had survived...he'd only be facing manslaughter or something similar.

He did survive. He's being charged with murder.

I could swear I read the driver died.

I could be wrong though...

GOOD!! They usually charge them higher only to give them manslaughter in the end. I hope he at least gets life. I'd like to have capital murder charges in these cases.

Here's the information for what he is being charged with - was lazy and just pulled from Wikipedia.

The driver of the minivan fled the scene on foot, but was later apprehended and identified as Andrew Thomas Gallo, 22, of Riverside, California. On May 27, 2009, Gallo was indicted by the Orange County grand jury on three counts of murder, one count each of felony hit-and-run, driving under the influence and causing injury, and driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol or higher and causing injury. Gallo had a blood alcohol content of .19 percent two hours after the crash. He was also driving with a suspended license. On June 8, 2009, Gallo entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment.

Big Jared Weaver going right if you watch the game check out behind the mound. Next to the rosin bag. Jared has NA scratched in the dirt there. Nick would have been Jared's roommate on the road.
Pitch one for Nick today.
