Vanimal is 8-1 right now, say he finishes 13-3 14-2. If that doesn't win ROY then Freeman better hit 60 home
runs.

Freddie Freeman has a higher OPS than Ryan Howard right now. Are you saying a player better than God can't even win the ROY?

Freeman couldn't carry Howard's jock, and when the braves are 15 games behind the Phillies at the end of the season
will anyone remember Freeman?

Is this guy for real or is he in a perpetual state of schtick?

Freeman is on pace for 21 HR, 78 RBI, 75 Runs, .365 OBP, and .847 OPS. If Worley did end up with 14 W, 120 K, while mantaining his 2.35 ERA, and 1.10 WHIP he'd definitely be in the conversation, but to do that he'll have to outpitch Halladay, Lee, and Hamels for the rest of this regular season. It's possible and I hope it happens, but realistically it is a huge long shot. No different than the chances of Vogelsong maintaining his outstanding pitching the rest of the year. Plus, how many times have we seen young pitchers struggle after teams see them the 2nd or 3rd time around?

And are you going to ignore all the fabulous seasons that Howard has already put up as well as his better production this year? Freeman has had a nice first 400 ABs, but let's not start comparing him to one of the premier sluggers in all of MLB until he actually he gets one monster season under his belt.

Schmidtfan20 is the biggest Ryan Howard homer and makes posts about him all the time. That's all I'm getting at.

I believe that ROY, just like MVP, CY ect ect ect... should be directly associated with how much the individual player helped their team win. If the braves make the post season... Kimbrel should be awarded ROY... Freeman is kind of like Heyward last year.. but not as good. Also what does Freeman do in the field?? Worley is proving that he is more than just a good rookie... even the second time around he is still holding his own and going strong.

Freeman has saved the Braves so many times in the field. Good enough to win a gold glove in my opinion and that of many others.

Freeman wins it by a landslide - end of discussion - move along

Wow have you even watched Freeman this year? He's made so many great defensive plays it's ridiculous. I've personally watched and seen him save many plays with sick scoops, diving plays, etc. Six errors on the year is damn good for anybody. Hitting .300 as rookie says something too. His first year blows heywards out of the water. He wins ROY hands down.

Heyward 1st year: OPS = .849, WAR = 5.2
Freeman 1st year: OPS = .848, WAR = 1.5

I love how much all you Braves fans love your team and I agree that Kimbrel or Freeman should win ROY, but you are wrong to the schmidtfan20th degree here. Did you even watch Heyward last year?

You're definitely entitled to your opinion. Solid, widely-accepted statistical analysis says that Heyward was better. You also think that "like half the year" is apparently equal to 20 games, so feel free to stick with that belief too.

Of course. I don't follow war it's new to me, yea noobish I know, what does it cover?

Hallsgator could explain it much better than I, but it tells you how many more wins a player gives his team than the "average" replacement player at that position. So if Heyward didn't play at all last year and they used the league-average RF, the Braves would have lost 5 more games. If Freeman didn't play this year and they used the league-average 1b instead, they would have lost 1.5 more games.

I just don't want you Braves fans to forget how good Heyward really was last year, that's all.

Craigkimbrel has had more effect on his teams record than worley

and no, he only pitches one inning a game.
Runs in the 9th inning are worth 2.5X more than those that Worley protects.

lol this is awesome. Yep, I'm sure when Worley gives up a run he's like OH WELL IT'S ONLY THE 3RD INNING THAT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER. Then he just goes out and crushes 4 or 5 other innings while some guy who pitches one inning gets glorified for getting 3 outs.
