His rookie cards are available in huge quantities, they aren't especially fancy and he has a lot of autographs.

There's a huge supply.

he received a HUGE ovation at the Pens Sabres game tonight but I was a little disappointed (as I am sure the Sabres fans were) he didn't play although it's understandable.

Yeah for some reason he has never caught on hobby wise (Now that i think about it, i cant even think of a Ryan Miller player collector). Its not like this was his coming out party or anything. Miller is no secret, this year he already has 30 wins (Which in Baseball i compare to a pitcher getting 20 wins), which now gives him 5 straight years of 30 wins or more. Not to mention in 06/07 he had 40 wins in the regular season. 40 wins in a season is something only a handful of goalies have ever done. Miller joins about only 6 or 7 other goalies to get 40 wins in a season EVER!!!. Just about 3 -4 weeks ago, The Hockey News did their annual "Goalie issue". This issue is popular/famous for The Hockey News's annual top 30 goalie list. Ryan Miller ranked #1 best goalie this year (and these rankings were done way before the Olympics).

Hobby wise, Millers stuff (rookies) took off during his breakout 2005/06 season when he had 30 wins and then raised again a bit in 06/07 when he had 40 wins. His stuff has pretty much leveled off (and even dropped a bit) since the 06/07 season. Sidney Crosby is the guy who is benefiting from the Olympics. Everyone seems to want a card of his nowadays.

Oh, and because hes not french as well. The most popular goalies in the hobby are guys like Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo and Marc Andre Fleury. All these guys are frenchy's :)

It would have been nice but as you mentioned I get why Lindy didn't play him. Its cool that the Pens fans gave Miller a nice ovation. Tonight they are home against the Caps and its on VS so Miller will definately be in today.

I've been sort of collecting ryan miller. I probably have less than 50 total cards though, like 20 different autos, 7 different rookies, etc. I haven't gone after any big patch or patch autos of his though.

Oh Canada......
Nice spot they have for Miller to sit... ::facepalm::

Miller played great! I was very impressed with his play in Vancouver, to be fair the US system played in his favor.

I think the Sabres are set for a long time with a goalie like Miller... think Marty in NJ.

Barring major injury, I think Miller will be the greatest US born goaltended once his career is over. I really wish the flyers could get a goalie like him.

Who is the best American born goalie ever? Tom Barasso? Mike Richter maybe? Cant really think of any others that would top those two.

I'd say Richter as well. I remember after Richter, the US used Robert Esche a lot. I'm sure after his poor play having Miller around feels really good!

I would say Barrasso followed by Richter and Vanbeisbrouck.

Miller will need to win at least 1 Stanley Cup to be recognized as the top US born goalie of all-time.
