has to be right there for ROY honors.....I would think he would be in front of Happ due to Happ has 2 wins as a relief pitcher and has 3 more starts then Hanson. Hanson is the only reason that the Braves are not out of the Playoffs by 10 games.

Thoughts?

The same argument could be used for Happ, without him, the phillies wouldnt be ahead or as ahead. Happ is ahead of Hanson but its close...

I hope you aren't serious......Braves are 6 games above .500, Phillies are 17 games above.

This is why people have such issues with you, can you actually answer without sounding condascending? Or is this what happens when you realize you're wrong and no one agrees with you?

The phillies are 17 games above .500 for multiple reasons, ONE of them being Happ. Is that too much for you to comprehend?

Happ has had a great season, and I think he will get better having Lee around mentoring him. Though im one of the biggest Braves fans around, the Phillies are gonna runaway with the NL this season.

Unless Lidge starts to pitch better, the phillies arent running away from anyone. This is going to be a tight race all the way to the end.

Happ is a very good pitcher and I won't take anything away from him. However, he has over 50+ innings in the majors before being turned into a starter on a team that will win close to 95+ games with or without him. Hanson on the other hand was thrown to the wolves to sink or swim. It is astonishing he has been this consistent for so long as the innings pile up on a team that will maybe finish with 85-88 wins.

Braves pitching rotation is the best in baseball.

eh,I put Boston,Yankees ahead of them.

Why? Beckett and Lester aren't better than Vasquez and Jurrjens, and Boston's 3-5 starters aren't as good as Atlanta.

I dont think the Phillies have much to worry about unless they have the Giants in the playoffs. I hate to say it, but I think the Phills will represent the NL in the world series again. Just my opinion.

Again, your point is that Hanson is the only reason the Braves are in it. Not at all true. He is a big part, but no the biggest. Happ may be having a better season. Wont really know until its all done.

NL ROY is really hard to predict this year. Even if they aren't in the running there are so many rookies that are meeting or exceeding expectations for first year players. Gerardo Parra is hitting near .300 and playing a very solid OF. He's not even in the discussion. That kinda says something about the quality of NL rookies this year.

People will always say that Boston or NY have the best whatever simply because that's all they ever hear about and nobody ever bothers looking into things themselves.

If you had done a poll at the close of the 2008 season asking what team had the best pitching for that year, I guarantee the Jays would've received less than 5% of the votes.

no likely, but he has had a solid rc season. not enough hype b4 his call-up hurt the upward potential of those of us who bought in low. yes he was ready and that's all az worried about. glad he is succeeding.

I love how some people are just writing off Happ's accomplishments because he plays on a good team. I watch most Phillies games and I pay attention to their trends. Happ has not only pitched consistently and brilliantly, he's had to step up and be the stopper on multiple occasions when the Phillies were in a slump and he's done it with some of his best performances. He has come up huge when the team needed him most.

Hanson has been outstanding; he's been one of the few to really live up to the hype.

Cutch has also been incredibly impressive.

Right now, the award goes to Happ. If he slips, the award goes to Hanson. I don't think Cutch will get recognized for his efforts due to shorter tenure in the majors and the fact that he's doing it in Pittsburgh.

I don't see McCutchen winning it guys. His average and OPS look great, but he has a total of 7 home runs right now, 3 of which came in the same game. Since then, he's 11 for 46, and his season is likely to include maybe a total of maybe 10 home runs with a .280 average. Not bad, but if any of the NL rookie pitchers cracks 12 wins and maintains an ERA below 3.00, there's no way Cutch gets ROY.

Also, don't forget about Randy Wells, who has 9 wins, and an ERA of 3.01.

It all comes down to the stretch. But, Happ has been really dealing.

I also agree that if one of the rookie pitchers cracks 12 wins and an ERA under 3 theres no way in hell cutch wins.

I would be stunned if a guy from the Pirates with 35 RBIs for the year wins the ROY and can't even bat .300.

STUNNED.

He wouldn't even win ROY on his own team, Garrett Jones would get the nod with 22 RBIs and 13 HRs in 100+ at bats less.

I was being sarcastic towards the OP.

I don't have any thoughts of Parra winning ROY.
