No New Rookies in 2012-13 Hockey

Reading on Twitter (@brentandbecca and @twotwenty3 and [MENTION=6139]tradercracks[/MENTION]) that apparently the NHL and NHLPA have asked Panini and UD not to produce RC's this year of players debuting this season. Only eligible players for RC's will be those who debuted between the ASG last year and the end of the Stanley Cup last year. Apparently based on that news, Panini has pulled all their Hockey products for the year.

Wow. This will kill hockey cards this year ... but 2013-14 should be LOADED with RC's.

Apparently same thing was done with NBA last year.

They will just double up on rookies in next years product. Not necessarily a bad thing, look at their basketball products. It will be interesting to see what happens with the UD redemptions in artifacts.

They still made NBA products last year, but with a shortened checklist and XRC auto redemptions which are taking forever to get fulfilled. I'd imagine that headache may be why they just axed the hockey checklist for this season.

Which means that Upper Deck will then certainly reprint the supposed short-printed 2012-13 Series One Upper Deck Hockey.
