Nolan Arenado Will Not Be Promoted This Year, Due to His "Maturity Level"

• O'Dowd said third base prospect Nolan Arenado will most-likely finish the current season with Double-A Tulsa rather than be promoted to the big-league club.

"Nolan Arenado's maturity level has not yet reached his talent level," O'Dowd said. "He will probably finish the season at Double-A, unless there are injuries or other circumstances."

Wow, talk about dropping the hammer on a guy. Glad to see a club not putting up with BS from an immature prospect. That's one of those statements that is meant solely to send a message to the player. I hope Nolan listens and adjusts his attitude accordingly.

Really? Then why say anything in the press about immaturity which will surely be taken the wrong way by EVERYONE not inside the organization and furthermore will embaress your best prospect for no real reason.

It seems not saying anything at all was a better move, unless there are maturity issues that you don't know about.

You are probably right. Obviously, I am not with the organization but that is what I heard from a pretty reliable source. The fact that he is very NAIVE should lead you to believe mistakes will be made. I'm sure that is all it is. His attitude is very aloof and I am sure that they want him to focus more on his work ethic and intensity.

Having maturity issues isn't the same thing as being immature. The organization may feel as if higher level ball will swallow him up because he's not emotionally ready for the transition. Obviously I've never been in that position, but that's high pressure and high stress...he may not be ready.

If that is right, then the Rockies are doing the right thing. He needs time to mature, grow, become a man. I like it, and I think they are doing the right thing. WHat is the rush anyways? They suck, why be in a hurry.

My only objection is to publicly announce it. Even if true, this is not something you want to have published about you, delivered by your club none the less.

Good move - for once. Plus, don't need him on this clusterf*ck of a team, right now. See you next year, boss! From meeting Arenado, I can understand what he means. I don't mind giving the time to Pacheco, and Nelson. Something to look forward to for next year.
