Through 5? Wowwwww.....

Please wake me up when they get past the 7th....

This isn't Joe Schmo we are talking about. These are 2 of the better pitchers in all of baseball.

Specifically Verlander(I don't watch Gallardo much at all), who seriously has as good of stuff as just about anyone.
What the hell?

Where in my post did I imply that these were not two great pitchers?

Slow down, bro.

You weren't impressed since it was only through 5-so I said you are talking about 2 great pitchers. What I meant is if Phil Coke is through 5, it isn't as realistic as it is with Verlander being through 5...

A no-no through 5 innings means NOTHING, regardless of the pitcher...that is what I meant.

Gotcha.

I was just saying that it isn't something to brush off, and both Gallardo and Verlander have showed exactly that-by both taking it through the 7th.

I was at Verlander's no no in 2007-was hoping he could add a perfect game, but a no no facing the minimum 27 hitters would work :D

Yes, it means a lot more when it is through 7. With your example even Phil Coke can get a no hitter through 5 innings, but it really shows the pitchers talent when they take the no-no into the 3rd time through the lineup.

Is it just me, or are no hitters not as special as they used to be? Seems like they happen way more than they used to.

Not really. Must just be you. Within the past 19 years...
