2022-23 Metal Universe Dylan Guenther Retro Purple Spectrum FX RC /199 --- An aesthetically pleasing card on three counts: (1) classic '90s design, (2) purple color match, (3) "pose match" to the team's logo. UD's hockey products remain top notch, I wish they still had a baseball license. A bargain bin pickup for $20 compared to what PMGs fetch.

Its a travesty that the various organizations that run professional sports licensing are ill equipped to make the proper decisions. Now with the latest poor decision making from MLB we get to suffer through more years of trash production

Agreed. It's a business, and has always been a business. The collector and quality of product just doesn't matter at the higher level.

Topps/Fanatics has been promoting collecting a great deal, but cards have essentially become another avenue for gambling revenue, much like their Betting & Gaming division, but with far less, likley zero regulation. There is over printing of new product with chase elements at every base, every insert. It is overwhelming to keep up with new product. I feel we are in the The Junk Era 2.0 with pointless slabs and superfluous serial numbers.

My goal with new baseball product is to keep it simple. Add just the Yankee base cards from Topps Flagship, ProDebut and Heritage. A checklist of about 70-100 cards per year. Mostly dime cards with a dozen or so SP/SSP.

As a result, since the summer, I've been gravitating more towards older UD products. I am still learning about what has been released over the past 15 years since they lost their baseball license. I'm going back to pick up cooler, retro themed, and patch auto cards from hockey. (Yankee patches are rather borning, except something insane like the Dickey above @michaelstepper!) Perhaps it is the aspect of diving into a new sport and the novelty of the checklists which has kept me engaged. I haven't posted most of my hockey pickups as this a baseball subform, but it been a rather nice, and affordable, diversion from the years of "trash production" in baseball.

I would agree that yankee patches are boring. 😅

Bought a large lot from a former Clemens collector. Landed a couple I ve been seeking as well as a couple more Jersey# matches. The Mound Marvels ball is cool.. WS ball with clear huge piece of the logo, and subway token is annoyingly difficult to find.

Mariners postcard lot (autographs) purchased for the B&W Team issued Tony Bernazard. Wish I knew how these were distributed. I don't think they were widely available through hobby avenues. They are not scarce, but they don't show up all that much either. Singles here and there, a few lots and rarely what might be a full set. I never saw them as a kid, so it wasn't something you got at games.

Still plugging away at unique Philly autos. However, I may already have this one. I can't remember now.

Matt Cassel

Still have never seen the Walter Jones, the big one I still would like to have, besides Adrian Peterson. Actually, have not seen a lot of the better names for whatever reason, besides Peyton Manning. 58 cards and not one Raider either!

Something I never set out to do, but I somehow picked up a complete game-used uniform for under $200 shipped this year.
Although the jersey is from batting practice and technically not used in an actual game, I'll take it for this price.
Steiner stuff has always been outrageously priced, $200 is probably the price of a photograph plaque with a bit of stadium dirt on their site.

I have never cared a great deal about the perfect condition. I played with my cards when I was younger. I separated at least 2 Bird/Magic rookies. I never waited for a better example when I was buying vintage cards. I did like to avoid obvious damage (unless it was a rare card in any condition) or extreme issues like off-centering. A nice VG/EX or better card was always just fine for me. This may have hurt me from a value standpoint in some cases, but I was never about the $.

When I can get a modern card and it has a minor flaw, I don't sweat it and appreciate those who devalue one due to one of those flaws, so I can get an even better deal. Todays card came from a facebook group. I have purchased maybe a half dozen cards on facebook so far. i am not completely comfortable doing it quite yet, with less protection that a site like ebay might provide, but I am warming to the idea.

Willie Wilson Archives auto with a "warped corner". $3 plus PWE shipping. I'll take these deals any days.
