It has been confirmed by some of the higher ups for the Jays. Brett Cecil, Robert Ray, and Wolfe have been called up to Toronto.

No link yet.

Is he starting or going to the pen?
I believe starting because 3 starters were sent down. Burress, Bullington, Purcey were all sent to AAA.

Cecil is starting on Tuesday against Cleveland. Ray is going tomorrow against Baltimore.

Kinda surprised to see Ray jump ahead of both Purcey and Mills on the depth chart but he has pitched quite well lately. He's also throwing harder than ever before.

To be honest, I'm glad to get Cecil out of Vegas for the time being. The combination of a hitter's park and one of the most atrocious infield defences in baseball history was killing him. I honestly suspect he'll have an easier time taking MLB lumps than AAA ones.

I can't imagine it is more difficult then Fenway or Yankee ball park. I am sure Mills will be up shortly once the next three get battered around.

I agree. That is how I know we will see him this year eventually......Once the next wave is over 6.00 ERA they will send them down.

He's facing Cleveland. I don't believe for a second that he's up for good.

You have no idea how terrible the Vegas situation is for pitchers this year. On a site I write for we've discussed it extensively. One writer, who has written on the Jays minor league system for many, many years, believes he hasn't ever seen such a bad combination. The defence is horrific. I expect to see BABIPs in the .380-.400 range (Cecil's is currently .344).

I'm not saying that facing the Sox or Yanks is easier than AAA. I'm saying that the AAA environment is likely detrimental to Vegas pitchers right now and that being in the MLB is more beneficial.

I just noticed the JP link in your signature. I got a couple of IP autographs from him last Saturday in Sacramento. He was very nice and signed two cards for me. Elite Extra and a Team USA card. No one was asking for autographs from the 51's so he almost seemed surprised when I called his name. Joe Inglet had the same reaction when I knew who he was. Other than that I had pulled a bunch of Rivercats cards but they were doing some charity photo event and limited the people who were allowed out onto the field to get their pictures taken with the players.

That's cool. Yea, J.P. is a really great guy. Glad you got to see him.
