I am in the minority on this board who thinks Tim Tebow will be the starting qb and succeed at it in 2 years. In fact. I am debating collecting his stuff this year.

I am sorry, i know he has mechanics issues, and all kinds of other things NOT going for him. However, dude is a winner and I cannot see him NOT succeeding. I just can't.

QFT.

Considering the state of QB's in the NFL and what almost every GM has said about him. He will be just fine. He will not have to play right away which is even better. Listen if guys like Craig Null and Tavaris Jackson can start in this league then Tebow can be good.. They can't even shine his shoes when it comes to mechanical issues

Being good in college doesnt mean anything when transferring to the pros. Its a different level of play which Tebow doesnt seem at all ready for.

Ignorant statement alert. I do believe that most all NFL players in the league played college and some do come out and play right away and others come and start a couple of years down the line. I have noticed your Tebow hate in the past and look at your comments as anything other than that. While yes, I am a Gator fan, Tebow is a good kid with a good heart and he DOES know how to get his team to rally around him and play on the same page, that my friend is why he is a WINNER!

I agree, he can be a situtional QB for a few years to learn the system and fix his mechanics while contributing through a few plays designed for him.

I think he'll either soar above all expectations or be an absolutely miserable pro...no middle ground on this one. My 2 cents are riding on the latter, but faith is a powerful motivator...I guess.

I found this interesting. Ray Lewis's thoughts on Tebow -

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... -received/

Also -

'Though Lewis stopped short of saying that this will make Tebow a target of opposing defenders (the Broncos play at Baltimore on October 10), Tebow's bigger concern should be ironing out any hard feelings that may arise in his own locker room, where others may not be thrilled by the budding love affair between Tebow and the fan base and/or Tebow and the head coach.'

I love the locker room comment. I have never heard a negative comment about Tebow as a team mate so I don't know why others would suddenly have problems with him. As long as Tebow isn't arrogant, lazy, or irresponsible he'll have no problems in the locker room. IMO Lewis' ego might be a little threatened b/c he's known as one of the league's ultimate leaders and here comes "some rookie" who has a similar reputation and is recieving a ton of press.

What basis do you have for accusing Lewis of being 'threatened'? Seems like pure conjecture.

Frankly, I think Lewis speaks the truth and that doesn't mean that he dislikes Tebow or that Tebow is doing something wrong. I can definitely see Tebow rubbing some people the wrong way. I'm a Christian, but if some young kid came into my workplace and started in with a whole "Fellas, let's talk about Jay-sus" shtick, I'd find it off-putting. Think: Eddie Harris in "Major League"

Tebow is welcome to be Tebow, but not everyone is going to like it. And there's nothing wrong with that.

The book is out on how he'll do, but I'm going to be against him getting a few years to learn the system. There's already starter talk being batted around and let's face it, Orton and Quinn are hardly insurmountable obstacles. Denver's offense may very well be ROUGH this year, and it's not like fans are known for being patient. If the offense is sputtering, they're going want to see Tebow play.

He'll definitely get some looks on Wildcat formations. If he rocks those, there will be even more demand for him to play and play now. If he sucks on those, then we might be overestimating his value as an NFL player.

Funny. Gellman's post simply makes a logical point about the difference between playing in college and in the pros.

Yours on the other hand:

(a) accuses him of hating Tebow (personal attack)
(b) admits that you're a Gator fan (bias)
(c) talks about personality attributes ("good kid", "good heart") that have nothing to do with football (irrelevant)
(d) touts Tebow as a "WINNER" (again, irrelevant. So were Danny Wuerffel and Ken Dorsey.)

You're totally free to have your own opinion, but I'd be careful about calling other peoples' opinions "ignorant".

Hahahahah. I gathered as much... =)

Nothing ominous meant by the "careful" remark. I just meant that if you're going to call someone else's statement "ignorant", your own argument better be airtight!

I am not a Tebow hater, but he lost all credibility from me when I found out he actually wasn't banging Lucy Pinder when he could have been.

Where did Ken Dorsey come from? Anyway, he doesn't matter anyway. What does matter is that you are blind to the facts. Stick around and you may soon learn that it is as ignorant as I think it is(A and B). Opinions ad, and if you think I am biased because I am a Gator fan you are sadly mistaken. The kid has done nothing but win all of his life. For someone to take his achievements from him and state that he isn't good enough is ignorant. He was drafted for a reason. Other teams will soon wish they could have him trust me. By saying above that he doesn't have the skill and college is different than the pros, well my thinking , you could say that about anyone in the draft. No matter how far up they were drafted. It is a pointless argument to say that they will not succeed because college and pros are different. You as a card collector, Sofa Coach and fan have no idea how they will adapt to playing in the NFL after college until they actually become a bust. Get over it. Your argument is worthless here. But anyways, A and B are true and that is the ignorance part I am talking about. He typed it just to bash like he always does about the Gators and Tebow. And yes, the kid is a winner.

I'm just guessing b/c Tebow has not had any issues w/ team mates and Lewis seems to be throwing him under the bus w/ his comments. IMO Lewis does not like all the attention Tebow has been getting.

Where did Ken Dorsey come from?[/quote:6j472z9s]
He came from U Miami. Duh. ;)

He was a huge success in college and didn't do anything in the pros. College success does not translate into pro success. He's also always been touted as one of the better football-smart minds out there everywhere he's been, but he just didn't have the ability to put it to use on the pro level. It worked nicely in college though.

Tebow could very well end up like Dorsey. Or like a Gino Torretta (who was a Heisman winner).

How quickly people forget. Dorsey was 38-2 as a starter (better than Tebow) and won 1 championship as a starter (same as Tebow), but he couldn't possibly be considered a 'winner', right? Because that would mean that college 'winners' don't always succeed at the NFL! [HEAD EXPLODES]
