If Andrew Susac is available when the M's pick again, I really hope they take him and pay him to get the deal done.

No you dont. My guaranteed bust of the draft. He has to catch his bat is awful awful

Really? How often have you seen him to say this? Also if you've seen him is it before or after he worked with hitting coach last summer?

Not trying to hate on your friend from the cape beefy. But the guys has an impenetrable obstacle to the bigs. He has no athleticism or contact skill with bat[/quote:1rd8bics]

He was our best defensive first baseman last season, he did a great job hitting. He worked super hard, and was by far our most consistant hitter last season. I think saying him out of anyone as the biggest bust is just ridiculous. To say he can't hit, and has no athleticism to me just says you have never seen him to back any of that up.

In my opinion 99% of people are completely ignorant on the major league draft. There isn't even a fraction of the coverage that the other sports get going into the draft. We know the top prospects that Baseball America raves about, and we will even see a star dominant the college baseball world a few times on TV, but it is nothing like football were college football runs Saturdays or March Madness where the whole world tunes in. As a matter of fact if you look back to last years thread you will see people saying picks are awful or bad to players that are now highly regarded in the minor leagues. Its a science that none of us can predict and our level of speculation is very low compared to any other sport. Shoot we can't even get it right who will be the star once they are in the minor leagues. There are so many players and each of them have such a long road to eventual stardom in the bigleagues that any negative speculation today is almost silly. Obviously its understandable to not understand what a specific club is doing with a pick, but really none of us know what we are talking about. These scouts actually go watch these kids play dozens of times, meet them, meet their families; we could be sitting here wondering why a player is dropping while the smart executives and scouts never even had the player as we did in our minds. Its not like the other sports where combine reports and character evaluation are leaked everywhere, its a crapshoot, which gives players from all rounds of the draft an opportunity to be a star unlike any other sport.

I think when I speak on a player I know pretty well about him, there are players who played for Falmouth that you never hear me rave about their playing abilities. I may like them as people, but don't rave about their skill set. Andrew Susac isn't one of those, he was the best player that played in Falmouth last season.

I wasn't speaking about you was actually referring to nearly all of the board members on here who have seen 0-5 players play live in this draft. Which is fine, it is perfectly cool to have your desires and root for a certain player I am just letting people know that talking negatively about a pick that you have no clue about might make you look stupid in a year. There is people who have their jobs on the line with these picks, i'd say they have a bit more invested then we do sitting behind a message board.

Nicky Delmonico to the O's in the 6th.

Slim chance he signs, I'm thinking.

Just now tuning into today. Any word on if Dillon Maples or Peter O'Brien have been picked yet?

I don't believe Maples has gotten picked yet; O'Brien went in the 3rd to COL.
