Rays were smart to go with a huge upside guy with that pick. You need to draft and develop stars to compete in the AL East. With all the compensatory round picks they'll have they have plenty of selections to play it a bit safer.

What exactly is wrong with Guerreri's makeup? I've only seen a few things about him changing high schools but a ton of kids do that.

No HS player will be picked in first round from southern California for first time in draft history unless Austin Hedges or Henry Owens taken.

Make-up aside he was the best player available. In my opinion, he was in the same echelon as Archie Bradley and Bundy in terms of stuff.
