Woooooooooooooooo being reported by a multitude of sources, originally broken by Yahoo! Sports via twitter. Probably my happiest day as a pacer fan in quite a while!

I watched the Bulls-Pacers game on tv yesterday and he had done a horrendous job coaching. Josh Mcroberts had 13 pts in the 3rd quarter (the Pacers had 21 as a team) and was taken out with 3 mins left for what I assumed to be a short rest until the 4th. When he left the game the Pacers were down 74-70 and the game was still well within reach.

Forward to the 4th quarter, where Jim O'brien leaves McRoberts on the bench until there is 4:30 left in the game. The Pacers are now down 95-82. During the entire period, the Bulls announcers themselves were wondering why McRoberts hadn't returned in the game. When he finally returned, the announcers deemed that O'Brien had to have simply "forgotten" McRoberts was on the bench, because there was no other explanation as to why he wasn't in the game.

I know the Pacers aren't going to make a run for the NBA Championship this season, but good riddance for canning this guy. They're 2 games out of the playoffs, playing a road game against a division foe in a game well within reach, and O'Brien keeps his best player for the day on the bench (as a team w/out McRoberts the Pacers shot 36%, he himself shot 67%). It's one thing to have a conflict with a player, or to call a couple bad plays; but to be completely oblivious to what's happening on the court, he deserved to be canned.

I'm surprised it took this long. He had no business being an NBA coach. He was terrible.

He was a decent coach for the celts back in the day. Much better than pitino.
