I have 2 non-Tigers related PCs of this type. I have a nice Jeff Clement collection including both the 2005 Bowman Draft Super and Red Ref 1/1. I also have a somewhat obscene Zach Putnam collection (bordering on hoarding) that is in need of the 2009 Bowman Chrome Super.

Hmm. Players with names close to mine. I suppose I could go with Seth Beer, seeing as how my name is Seth and I drink a lot of beer...

This might suit you better. . . .

Not as good as Craven, but I was driving around a local town for work one day and noticed a business at a stop sign, Barry Morehead DDS.

AAAAAAHHHAAA!!

So I just trolled ebay for a minute or two. Our man Seth has Topps cards from 1959, 1960, 1961. And a 1960 Leaf. I believe I have found my new Obscure Player Collection. Thanks!

So I just blew a big $7 on COMC. Thusly, I have acquired the following:

1958 APBA Game Card
1959 Topps Gray Back
1959 Topps White Back
1960 Topps
1961 Topps

The 1960 Leaf seems to be a bit more valuable, so I'll wait on that. But I'm stoked about this new PC. According to the SABR player bio, he played for the Denver Bears - how cool is that? Also he was the last pitcher the last pitcher to face the Brooklyn Dodgers, and by the way struck out Ted Williams at least once. And Wikipedia says he was the last pitcher to face Roy Campanella.

If anyone is curious about obscure items or variations for these players, just post your interest and I'll list them (it won't have most of the regular issue). I was curious about Bochte and it seems like he was in some interesting sets.

Cool thread, loved seeing everyone's response.

One of the players I recently followed to collect is George Mogridge since he was a Rochester native. Famous for being thr first Yankee pitcher to throw a no hitter. He did it at Fenway.

Unfortunately not many cards, and no Yankee cards. Seeking oddballs from Yankee years, haven't found any yet. Would love to get an autograph but also impossible to find. His stuff is more about the hunt/chase. Would love to find a nice display item.

Other guys I collect tangentially are Shelley Duncan, Dinesh Patel (Million Dollar Arm movie), Henry Gessler, Bobby Brown (Yankees, baseball executive).

Most of these guys don't have many cards. Duncan has the most by count. Not chasing eveything for him. For the vintage guys, want a 'type' collection. For Gessler, really want the Cracker Jack. Brown allows me to go after the Bowman vintage sets. He was a key Yankee player, but has no Topps cards. So it is a supplement to my Topps team run.

I collect Nick Longhi (Red Sox prospect) met him at spring training and have chatted with him on Twitter a bit! A little less obscure is Brian Johnson (former Red Sox pitcher) of which I’m his #1 Supercollector with a lot of different cards- over 600 and have over 700 auto’s of him!

I collect Riley Pint - #4 overall pick in the 2016 draft. I got his non-auto superfractor for what I thought was a good price, considering his hype (102mph fastball and Justin Verlander comps coming out of high school) and eventually obtained a ridiculous supercollection of him, including 15 out of 25 of his 2016 Bowman Chrome Draft Orange autos. Too bad he hasn't risen higher than A ball :(

I'm still missing his 2016 Bowman Chrome Auto Superfractor - to my knowledge it's never been pulled. I'm also missing a few of his 2015 Leaf Perfect Game autos/patches which would almost round out my non-1/1 collection. From what I heard, the father of a kid who was on Pint's Perfect Game team snatched up a bunch of them.

My up-to-date stats are:

Total Own: 301 out of 396
Total % Owned: 76.01 %

One of One Own: 66 out of 148
Total One of One % Owned: 44.59 %

Non One of One Own: 235 out of 248
Total Non One of One % Owned: 94.76 %

Non Numbered Own: 53 out of 53
Total Non Numbered % Owned: 100.00 %
