Odd fielding glove swatch - what is it?

Can't figure out why there's woven material adhered to this Vladimir fielding glove relic? Any idea what it is - maybe medical tape? Not sure what purpose adhering it to glove leather serves. Ideas?

That looks like the inside of the glove, could it be the back of the manufacturer patch or something?

Pretty sure if you peel that tape off you'll find Henry Rowengartner's mom's name burned into the leather.

I also thought it could be on the inside judging by the grain. Maybe he stuck some tape in there to stop rubbing on a blister. Or there's a crack in the leather. Could be anything, really.

I'd guess tape to either cover up a rough spot or to repair. Maybe a patient photo expert could find the glove and photo match it.

That's what it looks like to me, the tag on the inside of the glove where the hand goes.

I don't think it's a tag or patch. I think it is a type of fabric that is put in between the pieces of leather and the lining which I think is why the leather is showing on the rough side versus the oiled side.
