BORING but Charles Barkley is keeping me interested

There is a reason that Barkley is on when he really brings no "knowledge". He is hysterical and is the only reason this is even watchable.

I just don't want to see him recreate the Taco Bell commercial during this telecast ...

Agreed. I'd rather see a lay-up contest next year ...

Worst I've ever seen. Miserable. At least in the past few years they have been creative, and they got Howard to partake. Whenever Robinson dunks it looks pretty cool, just because how small he is and how much air he gets.

But the whole Robinson thing is getting stale. We realize a small guy can dunk, now someone do something new

Barkley is about 50/50 with his opinions. Sometimes he's right on, other times he's way off. He is funny though.

It was a crappy dunk contest. The dunk contest hasn't been fun for quite a few years. The last time it was exciting was when Carter won it. They haven't had any decent dunk talent since then.

Sounds like I made the right choice and went back to the Olympics before this stuff even started. The horse thing was brutal enough.... glad i missed this.

I left my house after the point guard challenge or whatever it's called. I guess I didn't miss anything.

Looks like you guys already said it - but that may have been the worst dunk contest I'd ever seen.

My favorite part was when Cheryl was getting ready to announce the winner and creating anticipation....and you hear Barkley mumble "maybe nobody won" or "hopefully no one won" or whatever it was he said made me laugh and I agreed.

I liked Kevin Mchales post game analysis. I love Chuck, but damn he is an idiot. He just said that Allen Iverson was better than Steve Nash this past decade. ::facepalm::

The All-Star game felt to me like a success...of course, that's comparing it to the dunk contest and other "activities" (I don't know what else to call them ::facepalm:: ) that were held yesterday.

It still didn't feel like I was watching an all star game. No Kobe, no Shaq, no Tim Duncan (at least I didn't see him play), no Vince Carter, no Jason Kidd, no Tmac, no Yao, no KG. Watching this only made me feel old.

The game evolves over time, these are todays stars. 3 (Duncan, KG and Kidd) of the guys you stated did play in the game, 3 are injured so they couldn't play anyway (Yao, TMac, Kobe) and that leaves 2 players who are shadows of their former selves in Shaq and Vince Carter.

It was a good event for the NBA drawing as many as they did for it. It was good to see players like Lebron, Bosh, Wade and Williams put on a show. The game could have been better if they had given Rondo more minutes or Rose and Paul were healthy. Point Guards make this kind of game better, and some of the highlights of the night were when Rondo and Williams were on the court. Unfortunately Williams messed up the ending as well.....

And I think the game has evolved for the better. I think I'd take the team of today's stars over the team of the guys listed in the first post if both were in their prime. I think this is the most talented the league has been in a LONG time, and the guys that are the superstars now don't seem to have the baggage that a lot of the superstars used to have.

Most impressive thing this weekend - To me it was the Rookie team. Blair was just a beast and watching Evans and the rest of that group play was fun.

Worst of the weekend - The dunk contest may be off the hook....only because I bothered to watch the "celebrity" game. OMG did anyone else watch this abomination? There was a point where I swear I watched for at least 5 minutes without seeing somebody make a basket....up and down the court, turnovers and missed shots, it was beyond ugly. The sad thing was there were pro's out there. During that 5 minute span I saw a WNBA player miss a breakaway layup, Globetrotters miss point blank shots. TO look like a fool. ::facepalm:: I hope they didn't make people pay to see that
game. Horrible!

I agree, the rookie game was really fun to watch. I usually like the rookie game better than the all star game. Both have similar styles of play focusing on offense, but the rookies and sophomores have a little more of a rivalry because the sophomores don't want to lose to the rookies. It's also great to get a chance to watch the new rookie class in action when I haven't had a chance to see most of them yet.

I hadn't watched Tyreke Evans play before, but he really impressed me. I understand Blair doesn't have any ACL's, but the fact that he went as late in the draft as he did is pathetic.
