Dude, you're not even from Iowa - stop always taking it so personally. I'm a native Iowan, and the biggest Hawkeye fan I know. Having gone to school in Wisconsin and now working in Minnesota, I heard crap all the time from Badgers and Gophers fans. I'm a Vikings fan - do you think Packer fans were kind to me when I lived in La Crosse? I'm a Yankees fan - fans of 29 other teams automatically have to hate me. I know you're young, but you gotta realize that the quicker you grow thicker skin, or learn to make fun of yourself, the better you'll be.

No offense, but if I wasn't a Hawks fan and saw the way you got all worked up, I'd give you a hard time too. In good fun, of course, but I'd do it.

Brad Edwards, ESPN's BCS guy, thinks the Fiesta will take both TCU and Boise to play in their bowl. I think TCU would win pretty handily, if that happens.

But I hope it's not the case so both teams get a chance to "prove themselves" against BCS conference opponents. A win against the "big boys" would look alot better than beating each other.

Who knows, maybe the awful BCS system gets attacked enough for there to be a real change in the whole FBS mess. ESPN, who has the TV contract starting next year, may bring some pressure for a change too. We'll see...

Mark Schlabach and Bruce Feldman

Both say Boise is going to the fiesta to play Iowa and TCU will go to the Orange to play GT

If the fiesta takes Boise and TCU that will be one of the biggest flop's in BCS history hardly anyone will watch it like they bowl when they played each other last year.

Iowa is a great traveling team (loyoal alum) but I don't think they are going to draw much interest from viewers outside the state of Iowa this bowl season
You would be suprised how many people watch Iowa.

I was in San Deigo at the begging of the season and they have a bar in there just for Iowa sports and it was full. I think the Fiesta bowl would be stupid not to take Iowa. Arizona is full of Iowans who live down there just to get out of the cold.

a lot of major cities have bars that specialize in certain universities
can think of several here in Chicago (U of I, NW, Mich St, Iowa, Wisco, etc)
With banged up QB, Iowa offense limited and they wouldn't be that exciting to a non-Iowa fan

It makes sense that the crooked ass BCS put them 2 together. They can't prove anything playing each other and the BCS gets to save face by putting them both in a BCS game. Complete bullshat

This blows!

I don't know how others feel but I was WAY more excited to see each of these teams have a shot to prove themselves against highly ranked teams. Whoever posted above me is right - this also ruins either's chance at being number #1 as it's "2 mid-majors" playing. It's just far less compelling then it could have been (at least to me).

I hope Cincy hangs 50 on Florida - since they wernt denied a top-tier opponent.

Absoluetly nothing wrong with the way they set up the games

top two teams playing each other (Bama-Texas, good)
TCU-and Boise St both deserve to play in big game --good
Florida still is a very very very good team and they play undefeated Cincy--good

Any team that lost 2 times does not have any reason to feel cheated

No one feels cheated i just dont see how Boise and TCU can prove them selves against big BCS teams if they play eachother.

Who should TCU and/or Boise St play to prove their worth?
Not eachother

Seriously, which teams should they play to prove that they "belong with the big boys?"

What would be more impressive, them beating each other (an undefeated, smaller conference school) OR them beatinga bigger conference schol with a couple of losses?

TCU v. Florida would be a hell of a game.

TCU v. Cincy would be good too.

TCU v. GT - see how the triple option does vs. a stout D

GT v. Boise - two "gimmick" offenses that gives everyone fits

IF TCU playes Florida then Cincy gets "screwed" and doesn't get to prove that they belong vs. the big boys (all that did was switch TCU and Cincy)
TCU playing Cincy doesn't prove that much more than them playing Boise (yes, Big East better than Mt West but not like it's basketball and Big East has instant cred)
How any of the teams would have done versus Ga Tech wouldn't impress the public (ACC seen as hoops conference)

How about how stout D does versus gimmick O (wait, that's Boise vs. TCU)--I kind of like that match up!!!!!!

Glad I'm not the only person who is upset over the Fiesta Bowl. I've never claimed to be a supporter of non-BCS conferences, but this is ridiculous. While I like the BCS for determining the MNC, I'm not too fond of this mess when it comes to the other bowls.

I don't want to hear the excuse it was because tickets. Ticket sales shouldn't have been a factor. For example, match Florida up against Boise St. Even if Boise doesn't sell its allotment of tickets, Florida would EASILY pick up the slack for them.

I guess the ratings could have been a deciding factor, but in my opinion, this could be worse. Instead of taking a minimal hit (if any) on two bowl games, now they potentially have one that tanks. I personally have no interest in it, at all.
