Really looking forward to see the fun this weekend. I missed the Rookies/Sophs game last nite, which looked great.

In '99 Vince's cards went INSANELY high after his AS weekend, especially his Slam Dunk performance. I wonder if something like that could happen for one of the lesser-name guys if they do well this weekend. JaVale McGee (sold his BC Gold waaay too early last year) is a good canidate for a price bump from what the press is saying.

Besides, can Griffins' cards go higher any way?

Cool to see someone break up the Celtics' head-to-head in the 3 PT. contest.

and what a Great Slam Dunk contest!

I agree with the announcers on a coupla things. Ibaka got screwed on his grade and although the presentation was excellent, the actual "Car" dunk wasn't that impressive in of itself.

Best saturday night in years. Love the commentary by Chuck, he just says whatever he wants.
Ibaka's dunk was feet behind where DR J took off--was a 50. For McGee it came down to a popularity contest Griffin got 68 percent of the fan vote

I agree, really enjoyed it. But I do wish they would dump the "Shooting Stars" and "Drills" in favor of the Rookie/Sophs game again, like before.

I do like Chuck as an on-air personality, I just wish he did more background research, etc. for his studio work. Like so many other studio guys in all sports (Bradshaw, Kruk, guys like that) sometimes he sounds like he just walked in, changed clothes, put his mic on and started talking.

BTW, Great line by him when they were talking about the delay in setting up the prop:

"Take your time. What are we rushing him for, another Law and Order?"

Griffin shouldn't have even made the finals.

But we all know the Slam Dunk Contest is about as real as Professional Wrestling.

I say scrap the Dunk Contest. Just play a Rookie Sophs game on Saturday night. The other stuff is fine.

McGee should have done the dunk with the 2 backboards in the finals. And the car dunk wasn't all that impressive, especially when jumping a person would be harder than jumping over the hood of a car.

Ibaka did get screwed and the car dunk I thought was the worse of the night. Overall the best contest i have seen

My only complaint about Barkley last night was he was ripping the Warriors of having no future, but was high on the potential the Raptors have. I see Godlen State even in a tougher division having a lot of young talent.

Cool

I'm not the only one then that thought the Car dunk was kind of lame. Or maybe not lame....but after all the buildup and nonsense the actual dunk felt very under-whelming.
I thought he was actually going over the car (something probably only a few people could do) not over the front hood (probably most every NBA player that can dunk easily can do).

McGee basically gave it to him though. The cradle was really nice.......but then he needed something bigger to compete with Griffin. It's almost like he didn't expect to be in the finals - because he had all that creativity in the first 2 rounds and then didn't seem to have anything else to go to in the finals.

I was also surprised Griffin was even in the finals. I was watching on the DVR....and fast forwarded through the final score and thought Derozen and McGee would have been top 2....was surprised when I put it back on and saw Griffin in the final.

Overall, a very entertaining dunk contest but I have to say the Kia product placement was disgusting.

Blake Griffin is hotter in Los Angeles than anywhere in the country and unless he missed every dunk he was bound to win.

Mcgee was planning on doing the foul line dunk Serge Ibaka did but when Serge did it he had to do the craddle. He was prepared to make the final just was caught off guard that Serge did a dunk he was saving for the end

I dug the cradle dunk. Especially in slo-mo the angle and way he adjusted his body was rather amazing.
The problem was I can't even remember the second dunk......and neither was theatrical enough to compete with Griffin considering it was fan voting. Not sure a foul line dunk would have helped matters much.

I guess it's damned if you do, damned if you don't......As his first two would have been great dunks for the Finals, but with the competition he needed those to simply get to the finals.

Actually I think the best moment of All-Star weekend so far was the look on Charles Barkley's face when they explained what the "fantasy draft" they were partaking in actually was after he made the first pick.

To those that didn't see.....they had the TNT crew make selections from the best players ever to create their Ultimate Team. I guess they were taking a page from the NHL and their draft.....but no real reason for this one other than filler......what can I say - not much else was on

Anyways.......Barkley had the first pick. He starts rambling about how PG is important in All-Star games and they control the game and then he precedes to pick Allen Iverson #1. Everyone else looks confused then Ernie Johnson says something to the effect of - You do know this has nothing to do with play in All-Star games. You're picking who you think is the best player ever.
As I said - Chuck's look was priceless. As he tried to recant everyone else yelled "too late" and then they made fun of him throughout the portion I watched.

I was wondering too, even if they were talking about All Star games, would you take Iverson?? How about Magic, Isiah, Big O, if you wanted a pt guard Chuck deserved to get taunted
