This is what happens when Belichek is not allowed to secretly tape other teams practicing/scrimmaging. They are still a formidable team but no longer dominating.

Did anyone else just see Moss up in the face of a camera man???
The Patriots don't like people behind cameras ever since Spygate apparently. Whether it's Moss, Belichick, or their Chief TeamOps Security CIA Assassin Chuck Norris x2 Bodyguard.

Love this sentiment.

Oh, wait. They went 16-0 the year AFTER SpyGate.
Then they won 11 games without their starting QB the next year.

Is everyone really so dense that they don't see it's because their defense just isn't very good right now? That's it. Pure and simple. Can't make it any more basic than that. They have a young secondary that still makes glaring errors. Shocking turn of events, I know. Players aging, or just wanting more money to go elsewhere - makes me sick.

Nah, you're right. Let's bring up an unrelated incident - one with no factual bearing on the current state of affairs. That's a lot more fun.

And Belichick was a real ***** tonight. Standing around and talking to coaches and players. What an ass. I hope the NFL steps in and puts an end to his Rampage Of Evil.

I don't think anyone outside New England felt bad for Belichek after watching him get run over tonite.

The defense didn't look good, but then weren't they playing the Saints anyway?

I can't ever remember seeing the Patriot offense look so completely out of sync and terrible before yesterday. And to think I picked the Patriots in that game for a friend, who ended up going with her gut and taking Saints for her pool pick instead...

Drew was on fire last night. Not a defense in the nfl can stop the saints when Drew Brees is on fire.

True - much of last night was more of a credit to Brees than anything. The Pats haven't had a good secondary for much of the year regardless, but your point is spot on. Brees would have carved up any historic defense last night.

I agree that it was not solely the fault of their defense. I didn't expect them to shut us down. They have no semblance of a pass rush and their secondary is as weak as the Saints was expected to be. I was stunned as Snyper said, by how their offense just derailed after that first drive. Moss was a total non-factor. Frankly I think that first hit by Sharper may have charlie-horsed him and he didn't seem interested in playing the rest of the game. Welker had that one decent punt return but other than that he was neutralized and I am still in disbelief a cast of characters like McKenzie and McAllister (2 guys that haven't played in a year and have never seen a snap with our defense), Malcolm Jenkins in his 2nd ever start, journeymen LBers like Fujita and Shanle could achieve that. One thing I expected was it to be a score for score affair with the last ball possession taking it. The stunning part was the ineffectiveness of their offense. Everyone has a bad game I guess.

Two positive comments about the Pats from seeing them last night:
- Kevin Faulk keeps on going. One of the best players in the league to come off the bench and is still a weapon after all these years.
- Lawrence Maroney is definitely a solid RB when healthy. He runs hard and resembles his college backfield mate Barber a lot.

Any more excuses in your bag there or are you saving them for the Pats next loss? I guess it couldn't possibly be that the Saints are just a better team.

I'm talking this year. The only good team they've beaten are the Falcons...and I wouldn't call them all that good. The Patriots are a shadow of them former selves this year for a plethora of reasons. Yes, Brady jacked up record numbers...against the Buccaneers. They have lost to the good teams like the Colts (although a close one), the Broncos, and now the Saints - the only real winning teams on their schedule.

I was actually referring to the SpyGate reference, not to you. I actually agree with your overall point; they've beaten up on inferior teams but haven't closed a game against a quality opponent - they had leads at Denver and Indy; they take a STUPID penalty - taunting after stopping them on 3rd down - to extend a Denver drive to tie it up (a more disciplined Patriots defense from the Super Bowl years wouldn't have done that), and they couldn't stop Peyton Manning with a brick wall in the 4th quarter of that one. They played terrific 55-minute games in both cases...but those last 5 minutes cost them. And great teams don't do that.

If they don't step up, and soon, they could be a 12-4 team that gets a first-round exit.

The fact that the Patriots got killed makes it even more awesome that the Dolphins got their phins (i'll keep it G for the children) handed to them in Buffalo. ::facepalm::

I have to admit after the Dolphins loss - I think this may have been the first time I actually didn't care if the Patriots won, simply because I didn't want the Saints to go to the postseason undefeated, which seems like a realistic chance at this point. I swear it's like watching a dominant college team (like the great Miami or USC teams) where the game can be close or tied early (like last night) and it just takes one play (like the Brady INT) and by halftime it's a 20+ lead. It seems like in every game they get a play and start rolling and noone can stop it - Lord knows that happened when Miami played them

I was shocked by Belicheck's move to take Brady out of the game in the fourth quarter.

If that had been the Colts or any other elite team, they would have fought to the finish.
