Just throwing this out there for opinions as I've been thinking about stringing this up for a couple months now:
I love helping player collectors out. That was the whole reason I started the player breaks.
I've been thinking about making one designated thread for die-hard player collectors where we could ban together and help each other fill the cracks in your collections. Like if you bought a lot of 2009 Topps Gold cards for a set and you have two Scott Rolens. You would come to this particular said thread and look at shuedini's list to see if he needs that card. If he doesn't have it listed, then he already has the card. If he does have it listed, you would send it to him.
You would post your list of every card you NEED of your player minus the 1/1's. Obviously if a 1/1 is out there, the PCer needs it b/c it isn't in his hands. It would be up to you to update your list - remove the cards you have obtained/purchased - add new ones that come out with every set. Some lists would be long, others would be short. If you sorted them by year, it would make it MUCH simpler to search through for others.
Seems like a lot of work but you wouldn't have to feel obligated to participate. I believe most of you die-hard PCers already have lists in spreadsheets, so you could probably just copy and paste. Everyone would have to contribute occasionally, we can't just have one person sending cards out.
If you can't contribute cards, you could contribute a small amount of money to a designated fund to help with shipping costs for others.
I would have a thread with ONLY people's list (one post per player - so if you collect five players, you make five lists/posts) and another thread for discussion/ideas/annoucements etc.
If you happen to get duplicates than you can either send them to another person that collects your player or sell/give them away.
All of this of course would need to be approved by the admins.
