Hi all - happy new year! I've spent the last few months trying to rescan my collection (how many things I didn't know about scanning when I first started this process)..mostly this was inspired by Photobucket changing their terms of service for linking photos, and I used the need to move my photos somewhere else to also "upgrade" all my scans (higher DPI, less plastic, etc.)

anyways, I've found that some of the Minor League cards I've managed to collect over the years have been my favorite. There is something about the rawness of the cards - the quality of the photos, the players haven't made it yet, and the nature of how the cards are distributed - many are distributed at games - that make for a good story. Many of the most sought after cards of certain players ARE their some of their minor league issues (Ripken, McGwire, Henderson, etc.)

anyways, i'm no expert on this subject...i just love seeing minor league cards. I do not think I have seen such a thread during my time on FCB so thought I would contribute by kicking this off. please share! show both new and old!

Great thread idea. Two of my favorites:

1983 (possibly 1984?) Stockton card. Never been able to learn much about this one and only ever seen one other set

I LOVE the minor league stuff. The 1990 Diamond is the most valuable "base" Mariano out there. I used to argue with people to buy that one over the awful/ugly/common as dirt 1992 Bowman, very few listened. Now the 1990 in a PSA 10 goes for $1000. No 10's exist for the 1994 Fleer Excel. Yet.

These are my favorites from my Jeff Frye Collection.

1992 Fleer Front.jpg1991 ProCards Auto Front.jpg

I'm also kind of partial to this one since his induction into the HoF is what likely caused the 1989 Star Glossy Gastonia Rangers sets to start being listed again.

1980 TMCC (Not a rare card necessarily, but rare in high grade)
1981 TMCC (not very rare, easy to obtain in high grade)
1981 Venezuelan (Very rare and impossible to find in high grade)

^SWEET stuff guys! keep it coming.

Love the Mo's. Love the Sandbergs (the flip on the 1980 TCMA really bothers me for some reason, could benefit from the new flip). Love seeing all the Star, Pro Cards, etc....

i'm also reminded that minor league cards feature really interesting photos of players - pre-stache, and the photography quality isn't really that impressive.

here's the "holy grail" of Mike Piazza minor league cards, it's his first official team issue, not particularly rare, but tough in "mint" condition. I love the overall design and blue-ness...and that hat. it looks like trucker hat designed by the city of Salem.

Did you try http://www.minorleaguesingles.com

I've bought from him a couple times, seems like a good dude with a crazy selection and solid prices

I've bought from Dave several times and he does seem like a good dude. He doesn't do team sets though. There are a couple website links on his page for people he recommends for team sets though.

There's so much going on here I don't know where to start. Very interesting card. Are all cards from this set so...unique?

I think this is an anomaly for the set. I'll try to dig up the full set. I think I have one.

One of my favorites! Pretty rare in any condition! Perfect example here of buy the card not the grade! Looks way better then a 3.5!
