This might be just the break Carrasco needed.

I really hate to say this but winning the world series has kind of made this season not matter to me very much, I dont know what it is but nothing about the phillies seems to bother me this year...

Quoted from the article:

"I'm sure you will make a lot more out of this than there really there is, but for us he's an important piece for us. We're just trying to be as cautious as possible with our No. 1 starter."

BINGO!

The number of pitchers who have missed substantial time shortly after their team was just being cautious is ginourmous.

My point was simply that this is Cole Hamels, argueably already the best left handed pitcher in baseball and the reigning WS MVP. ANY mention of any possible problem and it's going to blown out of proportion - not to say it's not possible it's going to be "ginourmous" - in fact, if there is something wrong, it will be just that. However, I'm just trying to point out that the media will blow up ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to make it as sensational as is humanly possible to get people all riled up and talking.

I can't tell you how many Manny Ramirez stories were blown up and out of proportion here in the Boston area when he was with the local ball club. The media doing this actually drives me INSANE! Which is the only reason I posted the "Bingo!" comment.

True enough. Hamels is pretty darn vital to the Phillies, and they are in a major market so the ESPNs of the world will certainly go overboard before we know the results.

I don't think any elbow injury to a pitcher is ever deemed not serious.

I meant like out for 2-3 months during the season. But it seems like he has always complained about his elbow, hopefully he doesn't 'fight through it' and really harm himself.

ESPN reports Hamels has been on the disabled list 7 of the last 8 seasons.
Here are some of the injuries, according to ESPN.com:

Hamels did not pitch in his junior year of high school due to a broken arm.

In 2004, his second full year in the Phillies organization, he was on the DL with left elbow tendinitis and later with elbow soreness.

Before the 2005 season, he broke his throwing arm in a bar fight.

In July 2005, he stopped pitching because of a back injury.

Since making his major league debut in 2006, he's been placed on the major league disabled list for a left shoulder strain in May of that year and again in August of 2007.

2008 was the first pro season he was not on the DL.
