My apologies if it has been posted. I checked, but may have missed the thread.....

"Corey Williams is a pitcher for Vanderbilt who suffered an absolutely horrifying knee injury over the weekend. But although I'm sure he's in a lot of pain right now, I hope he takes some solace in the fact that he made one of the defensive plays of the year on his last pitch.

ShareIn a game against Florida on Saturday, Gators catcher Austin Maddox drilled a line drive up the middle that hit Williams' right kneecap. Although Williams went down in what must have been terrible pain, he still managed to pick up the ball and toss it over to first base, where Maddox was tagged out.

Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post has a full report as well as an x-ray from of Vanderbilt's athletic department that shows just how horrifying the injury was. Williams' kneecap was completely split in two.

To this layman, the injury looks career-threatening. But while it will be season ending, Volin reports that Williams will have surgery Monday and could be ready to play by mid-summer. Here's wishing him a speedy recovery."

the injury is not as bad as it appears but is very painful. the patilla is split in half but if the tendons are not torn, they can simply wire the 2 pieces back together in the middle and he will be walking again in a few weeks.

Hope the kid repairs easily and gets back in there

Wait until you see what Mark Buehrle did today in the Whitesox game
I hit him square in the foot and he went after it and made a great play

Walking is easy, actually running and pitching again is another. I did the same thing and had to have all the cartilidge removed from behind the knee cap. It has taken over a year to be able to run full speed again.

As someone who has had his knee cap ripped off and ACL and MCL snapped in two, seeing that makes me sick to my stomach. Heads up kid.

Fixed it, to go along with the OP.

Patilla injuries would be my biggest fear, if I knew where it was.

Great play by the pitcher, that`s a lot of `want to`right there.
